Prayer request for Yvonne!
After 8 months of what we hoped was recovery and healing...and God has done some awesome things! We thank Him for everything that He has blessed us with in her recovery so far. Last Saturday was the last day we walked around part of the lake near our house. Sunday evening at home she was walking around the house, I was behind her, and all of a sudden, her legs just gave out under her. She was able to get herself back up again. But that is always scary!
Yvonne's walking has gotten slower and slower. I posted that she was having trouble lifting her right foot high enough to clear the threshold to get into the house. Well, that is still happening. She says her legs are really heavy. She did go to physical therapy on Wednesday and Friday this week and did pretty well. But on Friday while getting up from her rollator to the parallel bars her knees gave way again. She was able to hold on to the bars, but they are too high to lift herself up. The therapists came and helped her into a chair. Once rested, she got up and was able to finish her physical therapy session.
Several people have asked me if I've called her doctor to let him know. I hadn't because most of the time they don't respond. But yesterday (Friday afternoon) I decided to call and leave a message. A couple of hours later the surgeon called me back and talked with me! I was really shocked!! He prescribed a twelve day regimen of steroid pills to see if they will help calm down the nerves in her legs to see if that will help her mobility and pain. He is also scheduling a test at the hospital where they inject a dye in her spine to check the nerves in her legs. That should be next week some time.
Please pray for Yvonne because we don't know what's happening or why. It's really frustrating and not a little bit scary. We are still holding on to the Word: Jeremiah 30:17 "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds." Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess because He who promised is faithful." and Hebrews 13:5-6 "God said I will never leave you nor forsake you. Therefore I can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid."
