I loved your post. Believe me your Navy family has been in your shoes. My son was way older than most recruits, having graduated from college, a life in the working world and decided at the age of 31 to join the Navy.
I loved your post. Believe me your Navy family has been in your shoes. My son was way older than most recruits, having graduated from college, a life in the working world and decided at the age of 31 to join the Navy. He was fortunate to work in a rate that offered him an opportunity to use part of his college degree. He is our youngest and I missed him so very much. I had retired from teaching and he was gone during Christmas. He is the life of the party at our house and I felt so lost. PIR was far more emotional and prouder for us than his college graduation. Unfortunately, some people who haven't experienced this event, just really don't understand the significance and importance that it holds for military families. Anything you bring to Sarge's event is appreciated. Use his shortcut to PIR. We left around 6:15AM and got there easily. The doors opening, seeing your child, the singing of Anchors Aweigh, and that long awaited hug will forever be held close to our heart when you reminisce about PIR. I will thinking of you, your family and your dear son as he continues through his boot camp journey and Navy career.
