Rhonda - I’m new to this as well and like you, my heart has a hole and a blank spot. My son left 5 weeks ago. Two of those weeks were spent in quarantine. I finally received the standard form letter from him today. Nothing personal in it; just the form letter. But it was good to at least see his handwriting on the address. I hope by now you’ve heard from your recruit as well. This is by far one of the hardest things I’ve gone through but I know he’s in good hands and will be a better…

Rhonda - First of all, I see you figured out where to comment on the BC Mom main page. I would encourage you to go back through the comments and read the posts for the last several days - a few pages, but it will give you an idea of what questions are being asked, our answers to them and things that all of you new moms are wondering about. BelovedbyHim is working on updating her blog that is a first weeks timeline to be one for COVID now that we are getting a feel for how things are going.…

Rhonda - First of all, I see you figured out where to comment on the BC Mom main page. I would encourage you to go back through the comments and read the posts for the last several days - a few pages, but it will give you an idea of what questions are being asked, our answers to them and things that all of you new moms are wondering about. LadyBluefire answered some of your questions.

As for getting through the days - it honestly is up to you and your attitude about it. For some ladies they will admit - they cried every day. The great silence is the hardest and if you are 2.5 weeks in you are getting to the home stretch hopefully. The phone calls are not necessarily coming as often as when my SR (seaman recruit) was in and most of the ladies whose kids went in after the phone privileges during quarantine were taken away, are saying they are not getting a call when they go from off base ROM (restriction of movement) to on base. So, "No New is Good News" is what you are holding out for. And honestly, you do not want a phone call during this time, because a phone call right now, may only be for other information, but it could likely be a separation call or medical - so hold fast to "all is well."

I don't push faith or religion off on anyone but many of us on here rely on our faith and prayers to help us through this time and also to help our SRs. If you are interested in other groups that focus on that, I can direct you.

Keeping busy, going ahead and writing letters - many ladies recommend numbering them, and some have recently adopted new pets, start a new hobby, all are things that help out during this period of silence. Staying connected here helps as well, reading all the information you can, and watching the videos about BC so you will have an idea of what they will be doing.

Do you know your son's Navy rate yet?
