What ship has your son been assigned to? I might be able to see if I can get you further information in Norfolk.
I need to get to bed, we had a long day yesterday with our youngest son and an activity with him and church today, but I can give you some more information about Norfolk, VA as well.
I have been searching the internet, so far I found a FB post of someone that was with their son at a Jan 27th Prototype graduation. I think they are about 3 months apart. Sorry, that is not much help. Have you tried reaching out to the Ombudsman at NNPTC? - I just found this on FB - is this the correct class #? Good Morning mamabearto3 - I came across a post of yours when I was working on some things for posting on BC Mom group and just thought I would say Hi!! How is your sailor doing? I have forgotten if he is done with the pipeline yet, and at a duty station or is he still in GC?

Hugs to you!! I am not much help when it comes to empty nesting. I just graduated my youngest from high school, but I still have kids around that I am involved with and I have a project of my own that I am trying to get up and running, so I stay pretty busy. My sailor is in the fleet and I receive pretty good communication from his ship so I know most of what is going on. I miss him and it is hard to not have him available to do things with.
When he was in BC my husband found a sample time line of their activities and events so that helped me feel a little more connected and gave me something to pray about. Be sure to check out the videos in the upper left of this page that share some of the BC activities with you.
There are a lot of moms on this site though that have struggled with their only child or last one leaving for BC. I have reached out to some of them, hopefully they will reply on the BC Mom group for you.
HI mamabearto3 - I am sorry that I did not see your post in the main room chat yesterday. It is best to post your comments in the BC Mom group. That is where the majority of our currently active members receive email notifications and feed to reply and check on your post.
I am sorry that you are not sleeping well. Did you receive the "I'm here" scripted call? If your son had his two vaccinations then most likely he will not have to do ROM, but some still are and those that have not been vaccinated are still doing ROM.
If he has ROM it will be 4 - 5 weeks before you might receive the form letter with his address. If no ROM then about 2 - 3 weeks for a letter. Be sure to read through some of the recent posts from members with SRs in GL.
Hi mamabearto3 - you are a member of the BC Mom group, so you can click on the icon to the left here and go to that group page. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom section where the Comment Wall is. That is the best place on this site to post. You will have more people see your message there and post comments. Also, you will find a lot more information on what is going on at BC etc.

You are very welcome. I am another mom that helps out on this site. We are seasoned moms but I still feel young as mine has only been in for 3 + years. :)
We do have Veteran moms on here that help out as well and they are awesome and so full of knowledge and just all around good people!!
Right now for the PIR's they do a video and post it on the RTC page and You Tube but it is closed to the friends and families of the Sailors. I can't wait until they start back up again but for now the video's will have to do. :)
What a lot of moms have done thou is created a collage of different pictures, made signs and had all the family make a sign and then recorded it so when their loved one could see it, it was there for them. They would celebrate within their family and then when they would see their loved one they may celebrate again with their son or daughter.
It's really kind of neat to see what ideas the moms would come up with.
Hi mamabearto3 - looks like Chipmunk and partyofseven are answering your questions for you. Definitely be sure to post in the boot camp group any questions you may have. They will have more up to date info on when (if) PIR's go live again. It would be nice if they were able to start back up in the summer but we haven't heard anything yet.

Don't worry. You will learn everything as you go on. Mine is not in the Nuke program so Chipmunk and B'sNukeMomMMN will be good people to ask any questions about that program.
I'm sorry the live PIR's have been closed for a long time now and it's up to the Navy when they will allow it to happen again. It's when the Navy decides and it's due to the Navy needs. You will learn this as you become more familiar with everything.
I always say Boot camp is for us as much as it is for our loved ones. While they are getting stronger so are we.

I saw your question in the main chat room asking if they were going to have live PIR by August 2021? We have no way of knowing the answer to that question, but let me just say, there is no need for you to make hotel reservations before your sailor even sends you home a form letter from BC with his address.
My son went to BC in June 2017 and his PIR was in late Aug 2017. All information we had prior to COVID was do not make hotel or plane reservations until you receive the form letter. And any reservations that you do make all need to be able to be cancelled with no charges.
BC is so variable as to whether or not a recruit will graduate on their set PIR date. Semper Gumby - Always Flexible because your new mantra as well as "No News is Good News"
Also, more importantly than trying to make reservations for a motel, is to make sure your son is staying in shape and able to pass all of the PT requirements and the swim requirements - the float causes many SRs some problems.
And your son needs to be prepared for knowing he will likely be surviving on little sleep and long study hours and long working hours (12 - 14 sometimes), shift changes in the middle of duty rotations, etc.
My son has been in 3+ years, he is a Nuke and out in the fleet. The recruiter told him that he would have an 8 hour working day and likely have weekends or time off. Well that is not the case, (most recruiters know nothing about the Nuke program) and with COVID most of us have not seen our sailors for a year at a time, some of us for 2 years and they aren't even stationed oversees or on a deployment. The Navy has restricted a lot of travel and people's schedules are just keeping family time from happening.
Our sailors get 30 days leave a year, most of them haven't even been able to take any of it in the last year or so. I am not trying to splash cold water on everything, but I noticed you posted your son's ASVAB score and as parents we tend to be conditioned to think, high grades, high scores, all is good with our kids, but my sailor will tell you that there is a lot more that is needed to be a Nuke than just brains, it takes determination, will power, and a lot more!!
Hugs as you are coming into the final stretch. My son was in DEP for a year before leaving for BC, we had his graduation, one sister got married before he left, then he had a leadership camp he attended right before leaving. We really did not get to do a lot of fun stuff before he left. Thankfully, we were able to go to all of his graduations and such, but most of the ladies in the Nuke Mom group, who have sailors in SC right now, have not seen their loved ones for a long time, and all graduations have been closed.

My son has passed his ASVAB with a 98. He went to MEPS Thursday and came home Friday and passed out in his chair , he was so tired. Lol! He is going to Nuc school and is supposed to Leave June 22nd. Seems so close!
