Hi Lora, nice to hear back from you. Yes, we are absolutely going to PIR...it can't come soon enough for me! I'm pretty new to this site so I don't know exactly how to send a private message in order to give you my daughter's last name however, I am on FB so you can add me on there so we can chat privately. That's odd that they don't even know their first names but I guess that's the military for you. My daughter will be staying in Great Lakes for her A school. She signed on as an ICE (internal communication electrician). She originally wanted to go the Navy's music school but she had to interview and audition for admission and she was too eager to just get in that she took the first thing that became available. Her recruiter told me that ICE is actually a good position to be in because if she ever is stationed aboard a ship that's on deployment she will be able to call me anytime. What training will your daughter go through in Pensacola? We have a friend whose son recently completed his pilot training in Pensacola. I'm anxiously awaiting for the next letter from Ashley which I'm hoping will come in the mail on Wednesday. And like you, I have my phone constantly by my side just in case that call comes...although she did tell me during her 15 sec. call that she wouldn't be able to call again for another 3 weeks..this week will only be week 2 =(. So you're not the only crazy one..lol. It's funny because this is not the first time she's been away from home. She was away for 2 years in college but she was only 3 hours and a phone call away. I think it's the lack of contact that making this much more difficult. I am constantly thinking about my her and how she's doing in BC. She too went for 40 hours without sleeping and 2 1/2 days without being able to shampoo her hair. She flew out on a Wednesday and I guess they weren't allowed to have shampoo until Saturday! She said I would never survive BC! Take care...hang in there! Diane

Hi Lala, My daughter is also in ship 06 Division 936 and part of the choir as well. We got our first letter from her on Thursday and the day after that the form letter came. The form letter listed their PIR on 7/23. As hard as it was to read how tough the first week has been for her, it was good to know she was handling it all ok. She looks forward to Saturdays which is when they have choir practice. I guess being part of the choir, they perform at ceremonies. She said the first time she heard another division sing, it nearly brought her to tears. I guess it was the first beautiful sound she's heard that entire week. Your daughter's history closely resembles mine. She had also started this enlistment process in the beginning of April and was shipped off May 25th. She had also finished 2 years of college. We miss her so much...it's going to be a long 7 weeks before we get to see her again.
