All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose). Still limited to 2 guests maximum.
Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.
RESUMING LIVE PIR - 8/13/2021 - ONLY 2 GUESTS ALLOWED
MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING IS REQUIRED.
NO MASK, NO ENTRY
**UPDATE - 2020**
Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.
Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass isno longer needed to drive on to base for parking.
Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.
Hi Kaye. I was looking at your useful pages in this group and discovered the link wasn't working to the pdf explaining how to email your sailor deployed on a fast attack sub. Any chance you can repost it? Many thanks!! -mama4dog (mom of MMN based in sandiego)
Well I have to admit you definitely have me there .you know when my husband was in we never missed a Christmas it's weird lots of birthdays most of our anniversaries but he was always home at Christmas. My son is going to be getting off his boat pretty soon .right now he's out he's due for Shore Duty I think a couple months from now but I don't know depends you know how things change with the Navy. I told my husband now maybe he can find someone settle down and have a baby before he goes back on another sub he just laughed at me.. we actually didn't get married till my husband was 28. My son just turned 24 but he said he hasn't had time for settling down so we'll see.
Long time, no chat. How are things going with you? We had our Bubblehead for 72 hours. He was here to photograph a friend's wedding. It was so nice to have dinner with he and his wife. Just chatting about nothing. Miss that the most.
Andrew graduated on 14 march MM...his group lined up to the far left of the diaz...he lived up on Bridgetown Rd...was in a car accident with his Nissan at the mall south of base, bought a used green Mustang. Was into rifles and spent a lot of his down time at the shooting range north of base. Andrew is a history buff, but his roommate called him a brain because he could do the ET and EM work as well as the MM. To answer your question he was assigned to the USS Oklahoma City out of Norfolk, but he was temp assigned to a second sub in dry dock in NH, while his was out to sea (the Navy took some officers that needed their sea legs b4 Andrew and two others that were assigned out of GC)...and now the Oklahoma is in dry dock...so Andrew will spend his first two years in the Navy on shore duty.
