Hi Cindy....I just emailed you back but in case that didn't go though, yes I was so excited to get the call from my Sailor!! He sounded great but of course tired, as you can imagine. How about your son? When did you get the call? We'll be there very early Fri. am...how about you?
I'm glad you got your letter too today and that he also is doing great! My son said he should hear soon where he'll be going, he can't wait either. That's great that your son will be going with a lot of the guys he already knows. I wonder if our guys know each other even though they're in different divisions?
You going to the meet and greet? Like I said if we do, we have to find a hotel that is pet friendly cuz there's no one to watch our dog anymore. I would love to go, but I have to see. Anyways, I hear ya!! I am sooo excited for graduation and sooooo excited to see my baby again, I can't wait!!! Yup we couldn't wait for him to go either and now we can't wait to see him!!! Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I know for my Matthew the Navy will be the best thing for him. I'm sure for your son too!!! It's time he found his way!!!
Hi Cindy....thanks for the link. My plan is to finally sign up on facebook tonight. I just got home from work and am tired now. Well I didn't get a phone call yet but my husband, myself and my mom all got a letter today and it put me in such a good mood!! He sounds very upbeat and happy and says he's doing really well! Says he hopes he can call soon. Did your son call yet? I talked to one mom today at work and she said her son only called once after the first night they got there so I know it's hard for them to call. Anyways I can't believe only 2 weeks left, I know we all can't wait!!
That is cool!!! I'm still confused as to what the apprenticeship program is, but I know he will stay at GL for 3 weeks, but not sure what he'll be doing there. When did you know he'll be going to Pensicola?
I'll join FB tomorrow, too tired now but when I do I'll check that out and if you can think of any others on FB for me to check out, let me know please. In the mean time please keep in touch, I'll look forward to it! I'm going to check out that PIR sarges page now to see about the meet and greet. Hope to hear from you soon and thanks again for responding, I feel much better now!! Hope our babies call us soon, they probably will!!!
I will definitely look into the other groups. I need support as well and I wish I discovered this sooner. But I'm looking forward to talking to other moms now. Yes Toyota Park is right here in Bridgeview, I've never been there though believe it or not. Anyways, my son is going to stay for 3 more weeks at Gr. Lakes after graduation for this apprenticeship program. So far I don't know where he'll be stationed after that, but I'm anxious to find out. Where is your son going? What's the A class?
Oh I see. I didn't hear that he would call if all went well, either way I sure hope all went well with our sons and their divisions. That must've been some hell of a week!! I hope it's all uphill from here on end. I have so many questions and am so curious how it's all going, I just can't wait to see him, I know you feel the same way!! It's so hard to believe we haven't seen them in 6 weeks!!! The closer it gets to the end, the more anxious I become!!!
Yes, we've been to Great America, many years ago. So we're quite a drive from you. Nevertheless I hope we can meet before the ceremony. I'm anxious to sign onto FB and to check out that PIR Nov 15th thread, is that what you call it?
I wish I had gone on here sooner, but better late than never. Anyways, I'd love to keep in touch with you on here. We live about 1 1/2 hours from Great Lakes. Our suburb is right next to Oak Lawn, maybe you heard of Oak Lawn? So if we go, we'd have to stay overnight and I'll talk it over with my husband....have to find a hotel that takes dogs, but it's certainly something to consider. I'd love to meet you and the other moms!!
In answer to your other questions....the last time our son called we were both working so he just left a message. I was upset we missed his call. That was about 1 1/2 weeks ago. We've received letters since, but I can't wait till he calls again. Did you say you were told they'd call this weekend after hell week? I hope your son calls soon too!!
I will Cindy and thank you so much, I already feel better. You're right no one else can understand what we're going through and it's so good to talk to someone else whose in the same boat (so to speak). Now what is the meet and greet?
Ok thanks, I'll try the group site too!! I am also very heartbroken he hadn't called this weekend!! I was hoping to hear from him soon, seeing as how hell week is over with. If I don't hear from him soon I know I'll be very worried, but maybe no news is good news? However, I really do hope to hear from him soon!!! My name is Robin and my son also is 23.
