Wahoo! Congratulations to your son and his division. I'm sure that's a burden off your shoulders. Have you gotten the call yet? What a wonderful day!

Yes I have seen the videos and I think my daughter will do well in BS. We are planning to attend Sarge's meet and greet on the 15th. Still trying to decide if we drive on base or take a shuttle, but I've already printed our gate pass just in case.

Happy to meet you! I haven't been this nervous since I don't know when! I have literally had my phone by my side 24/7 since she left.

We're in Colorado. Are you flying or driving to PIR? We are driving and picking up my oldest daughter in St Louis along the way. We're staying at the Holiday Inn in Libertyville.

LOL  Yep...Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a cult classic around our house.  The boys ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!  We went to see it during Artown at the movies in the park just a couple weeks ago.  It was so fun to watch it together with our community.

Hope you're enjoying the weekend...we made it through formal senior photos yesterday...and now it's the countdown to school starting.  Oh man is there a way I can slow down time!  I can't believe that a month has already gone by.  11 more to go!

Too funny the phone. I know I will be the same way when Jonathan leaves. We've been working with the same recruiter. Really nice guy and very helpful. My other son said he reminds him of Ferris Bueller. LOL The recruiter has always been straightforward and I think he's already preparing Jonathan for his future.

Keep your hands on that phone! I've been having trouble with the microphone on my phone and can only use Bluetooth. It's a pain to use. I'm DEFINITELY going to have to get a replacement by the time Jonathan leaves so I don't go insane!

I would do the same thing to my family if they missed a call too. I am trying to train myself to answer all calls and not just the people I know. I have a bad habit of only ignoring #s I don't recognize. However I will have the GL area code memorized before then. LOL

That would be GREAT for us to meet at your daughter's shop. I'm usually off on Fridays and the weekend. No hurry, but let me know what works best for you.

Hey Kelly...my bro-in-law and I dropped by your daughter's shop this morning. It is so nice and the art displayed was cool. We almost had trouble finding it, but we were determined. I almost didn't get to chat with your daughter because she was in a meeting. We were there for a bit enjoying a piece of coffeecake so I got a chance to meet her. She was so sweet. She talked about how she got in trouble for missing your son Bryce's phone call.

Hope all is well with you. Have a GREAT weekend!

It's GREAT to hear you are getting letters from your son and he sounds positive.  That means the world to Navy Moms.  Sounds like there is a LOT going on for your son next week.  Is the Confidence Chamber the gas chamber???  We got to do that when I was in NJROTC in high school and went to "mini bootcamp".  It was SO COOL!  I told Jonathan that the gas chamber is something to look forward to!  LOL  Firefighting is another story...that idea just scares the heck out of me.  Well I can relate to getting up at 3:30 every morning as that is my shift...but I don't think I could function as well as those recruits do at that time of morning.  You gotta give it to those kids for the stamina and determination they have.

Oh man...I'm sorry you missed your call.  I'm sure your Mom was pleased to have a chance to talk to your son though.  She did a good job in getting all the info you wanted.  I would've been the same way...wanting to know everything.  I know I'm going to drive Jonathan nuts with all the info I want when he's gone!  LOL

It is my goal to drop by your daughter's shop tomorrow on our way back across town.  I will definitely introduce myself as your new internet girlfriend.  LOL  What a funny sense of humor!  I'll shoot ya a message tomorrow after we've dropped by the shop.

Keep counting those days!

Wow...your son's division must be doing GREAT for getting a chance to call again.  I'm sure this past month has felt like a lifetime for you...but man it seems like time is flying for our family.  I can't believe school starts in 2 weeks!  It's been a wonderful month of memories though...the camping trip to Crater Lake last week was the best!  I almost hope that these next months aren't going to fly by as fast.  I just feel like every little thing is the "last time".  It's hard to handle...but I know it will all be worth it.  I'm certainly driving my husband insane with all the "last times".  I try really hard not to mention it, but inevitably it happens.  What can you do?

You are getting so close to PIR...can you taste it?  LOL  I'm so excited for you and your son and I would LOVE to hear how the whole experience went after you get back.  Thanks for your suggestions on what you put in your letters.  I'm thinking more and more about what I might want to include.  I guess I better make sure my printer has all the colors of ink in it when Jonathan ships out to BC so I can print pics on his letters too...what a GREAT idea!  That is so good that your son looks forward to your letters.  I asked Jonathan's brother who is his twin if he would write him letters too.  He acted like it wouldn't be important, I explained to him how much it would mean to his brother if he wrote him.  I will try to encourage him to write him when the time comes and hopefully he won't be stubborn about it.

We still haven't had a chance to drop by your daughter's shop.  I'm hoping to squeeze it in tomorrow in between all the errands I gotta run.  It's going to be a CRAZY day...gotta stop at the high school to complete online registration, drop hubby off at work, pick up Jonathan from band practice, stop by UNR to get Jonathan registered for his dual credit class, drop him off at the recruiter's for a mentoring session, get my haircut, pick Jonathan and his brother up for Senior photos and then pick up the hubby again.  No rest for the weary.  LOL

Looking forward to the latest update on your son's progress.

We will have to drop in and check out your daughter's shop. I've never been in there.

Sorry you didn't hear from your son, it's a good thing you didn't have any expectations. It's disturbing to hear that your son's division doesn't have a mail person yet though. Those kids need their mail! I hope that gets cleared up real soon. Have you received any personal letters other than the form letter? On the subject of writing...I've read through a bit of the letter writing forum, but I'm curious as to what you are writing about to your son other than the standard support and live. Did your SR ask you to write about anything in particular? I'm trying to figure out what he might want to hear about when he goes. We might help with the marching band again next year just to keep him informed of what's happening with them. I know it would be special for him.

Good to hear that your son survived the wisdom teeth thing pretty good.  More proof that they can survive it at BC.  How lucky you are to have heard from your son two weekends in a row.  Sounds like he's working hard and getting through it all.  Great to hear that he passed his tests for E-2 also!  I'm sure you're excited for the big day!

Where is your daughter's coffee shop?  I would love to go check her art out.  We don't do everything Artown, but we try to experiment with something new every year too.  It's been a GREAT season so far.

Hey Kelly...hope your son survived the wisdom teeth thing and is back to his normal self again.  I am going to talk with his recruiter this week to see if he can get them out before BC or not since he's got so much time.  I would prefer it before he goes in, but I'm not stressing over it.  Things have mellowed out quite a bit now that all the papers are signed and everything.  We've been doing a lot of Artown stuff and we went camping near Graeagle last week as Jonathan marched with the McQueen band in the Independence Day Parade.  We are also going camping up to Crater Lake next week.  WHEW!  Lots of FUN stuff going on anyway.  LOL  Jonathan went to his 2nd DEP meeting today.  He's been working really hard on memorizing the stuff in his START guide and he's doing good with it.  Tears welled up in my eyes when he recited the Sailor's Creed to me for the first time.  Have you heard from your son lately?  Hope all is going well!  He's what...3 weeks in now???  Just think PIR is getting closer and closer :)

Hey Kelly!!! I have heard from my son, He has called the past 2 Saturdays.  This past Saturday he called and said he was Section leader, you should have heard his voice, he was very proud.  He said that if anyone makes a mistake or get into trouble he pays for it.  They gave him a pin to wear on his collar.  I was very proud to hear this.  He also says he gets his wisdom teeth pulled this week, wasnt happy to hear this.  If I knew this I would have had them pulled before he left. How is your SR doing?
