Hi! My son is a DC stationed in Sasebo Japan since September. I googled the differences between a fire controlman and damage controlman, but I cant send you the link while on my phone. Just google each and read the one that comes from military.

Hi Nigel's Mom,

We did get the call he called on my cell and my husband and I were both able to talk to him on speaker phone.  I work out of my house and my husband works an early shift at work so he is usually home by 2 p.m.........our call was 10 min and he called his girlfiend also and they had 11 min..........from my understanding other loved ones had 55 min calls from their SR.......but my son bought a calling card with 100 min on it and the actual talk time to Maryland from GL was billed at like 4 min so the 100 min card only gave him 25 min of talk time......I am going to send him a 1000 min phone card for the call after battlestations....I am so sorry you did not get to talk to your SR but I am sure it is reasuring that your husband did.....Zac is staying in GL also for school....We are going to Sarge's meet and greet on Thursday before PIR are you going to the meet and greet on Thursday?.....if so maybe we can meet?

Hi, so glad to find another mom in the same group.  When I got his box I thought I would cry but yes it was good to see his clothes!  Our dog took his t shirt, started sniffing and getting excited and keeps dragging it around with her (hope he doesn't want that one back)  I'm going to post a group for us and hope we get other moms .  Feel so much better having his address.

Hi Katherine,

Well today was the day.  It was long and exhausting.  Conor did very well but my husband and I had a bit of a meltdown.  He hasn't arrived in Great Lakes yet..plane is delayed. We are still texting one another and he will call when he arrives.

I almost feel the time before they leave is worse than the actual day.  I sort of programmed myself to act like he was just going away to college out of state.  I survived three older sons doing that, so I am trying to treat Conor's time in the Navy the same way,

Good luck to you and your son!  I'm sure he wil do very well.

Kathy
