Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Not sure if you are still checking messages, wfindley, but I wanted you to know I saw your post re your son being diagnosed with Hep C.  I'm so sorry to hear this.  My son came home a few days' ago (from Separation HELL), and he, too, came home sick.  In addition to being sick, he had a cracked tooth that got horribly infected making him even more ill.  He asked that a dentist at GL see him and was told they will see you but you must pay for it (he had no money on him!) because you are in separation.  When he went to the dentist here at home the other day she was appalled they left him in that condition.

I feel your pain.  I am curious, too, and have not asked anyone else this, but my son was paid for his time in BC.  They did take $650 for uniforms and boots (which they took back), and they also told my son they would be sending him a bill in five/six months for over $400 to cover the cost of his sneakers, tshirts, sweatpants, backpack and ditty bag!  Did your son also receive the same message when he left GL?

I'm a bit disenchanted with the Navy right now but very proud that my son gave up ten months of his life to try to do something honorable - serve his country.

I'd be interested in your input.  Thanks!

The RE-8 means that he must have a waiver (actually I think it is at least 2) to get back in. He will have information on how long he must wait before starting the reenlistment process; it's usually around 6 months. Some have been successful in getting the waivers and have gone on to BC again and others have not. Waivers are granted on a case by case basis.

hi my son left one day before to the hotel took nothing but a heavy jacket for the cold and his phone..shoes he wore..he wanted to throw away ..that way he had only few things to send back home ..less money to send home ..took a telephone card with him as well ..hope i have done well ..got my info from here and there ..hope i have helped..stay strong

So very sorry for your loss, I will pray for you and your family in your time of grief. Know that your father is no longer suffering, he is at piece now and in a better place. I know how difficult this is for your family, I lost my brother and then my dad almost a month later in the end of 2011. Your dad will always be with you.

That is why my son chose it. When he was ready to go he was ready to go...Patience is not one of his best qualities! He went to MEPS the first time in mid September and left on December 13th. So, I definitely understand where he is coming from. Will he be leaving from Columbus? That is where my son left from and I noticed you are in Cincinnati.

Hi, I noticed your question concerning PACT program. My son is in bootcamp right now and is going into APACT. My understanding is he will shadow about 18 different jobs and has 2 years in which he can strike for a job that he likes. My husband was in the Navy and says it will be a great opportunity for our son. It sounds like it gives him the chance to try out several jobs before he makes his decision....and then take the one he really likes. This is new to me so someone else may have some better information for you.
