Thanks for the welcome. I stumbled across this web site while reading the Navy Times...there was a mom hugging her daughter and wearing one of the Navyformoms.com tee shirt. So I checked it out.
Kay has been in for 3 years and is stationed at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor in Silverdale, WA. Her MOS is Master at Arms and she just picked up PO2. Her frocking is scheduled for 12.15. We'll see her a few days later she'll be home for the holidays. We are very lucky she isn't too far away...only about 10 hours as we live in Idaho. We talk often and we usually see her about 3-4 times a year. Not often enough but I know its more frequent than some parents.
Do you have a son or daughter in? What do they do? Oops...if I paid attention and scrolled up, I'd find out!!!
Thanks again for your interest. I'm looking forward to meeting many new people. Have a good day!

Mark is deployed for a 6 month tour on the Springfield. He left in September and the e-mails have been sporatic but he seems happy when we do get emails. I know he just earned his Dolphins and is very excited about that. He also just re-enlisted for another 2 years. We are planning a huge homecoming for him, which helps ease all this time without him.

Hi Pat,
My Mom in law was from Oden. Our family name in that area is Colvin. My husband's great Uncle was quite a regular at Walmart for coffee every morning in Washington (not sure if his health allows it daily today). There's a different town name where Aunt Bernadette lives right there too. She had like 13 kids. I know Jonie and Dot (Dorothy). Anyway, that area is a beautiful spot in Indiana. I graduated from Vincennes. Anytime we travel through there I have to check out campus. It has grown, but my duplex apartment was still there the last time I went through. Always have to take 6th street exit from 41 and drive through the town and get to Hart street to get back on 41 again. I'll do the same again next time I go that way. Funny how two years away from home living there makes me think I can find my way 21 years later. Proud of my Sailor and God bless you, your Sailor and your family.

I did notice that it was the same group of officers! That's funny... but graduating a bunch of fresh Nukes is a big deal. If you didn't keep a program, the man shaking hands with your son is the Commander of the 7th (?) Atlantic Submarine Squadron (BIG Mr. Poobah!). I'd have to pull the program out of the scrapbooking pile to give you his name... ks

Pat, now that we're 'friends,' if you go to my page, you'll see "Send a Message" just under my icon (top left side). That's how we send private messages. I'll also send you my email address and cell phone via PM. ks.

Saw your question about the photos... If you give me your email address (via private message), I'll just send the file to you. Then you can use "Browse" and upload it from your computer.

BTW, when I asked Drew about an Andrew Porter in Goose Creek, he said, "Mom, Porter sat in front of me in class. I used to go shooting with him all the time." Our boys were buds!

Drew wants me to send you his email address to forward on to Andrew. Drew thinks it's funny Andrew's got mess duty right now... Drew was "Galley Boy" for the first three months he was in Bangor. :-) KS.

Hey Pat, I saw your comment re: Andrew's leaving GC this past March. My son Drew ("Andrew" as well!) finished nuke school in March too. Our last name is Smith - the guys called him "Smitty." I'll ask if he knows your Andrew.

Where is your son serving? Mine is in Washington on the sub Alabama. Oh, and another coincidence: we live in Avon, IN ! Hugs, Kaye
