All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video:"Importance of Navy OPSEC."
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).
**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED. Vaccinations still required.
**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

Brandy, I am so sorry for your loss. I wish that words could take away your pain. I know you all have a beautiful angel watching over you and I know you will feel her with you always. My heart goes out to you and your family. I will keep you all in my prayers. My daughter's husband/Sailor also lost his sister in a tragic car accident the night before battlestations. It has been very hard but he and my daughter/Sailor are taking it one day at a time. I am sharing this with you because our Sailors all watch out for each other. If your Sailor ever needs another sailor to talk to who has been through this please let me know. I know my Sailors would be more than happy to help in any way they can. And if you ever need someone to talk to or anything at all please let me know. I am happy to help in any way I can. God bless you and your family all and watch over you all, Lora
Hi Brandy, Although I've never "met you" my son graduated on 1/27 also. I was SO saddened to hear about your accident, and I have said MANY prayers for YOU & your family! Only GOD knows why he chooses special "Angels" to join him, when we haven't quite finished with them. But from reading your posts, I can tell you have FAITH that he chose wisely, when calling your BEAUTIFUL daughter home! Your strength has been an insperation to ALL of us! I do hope you have a fast & full recovery! It is a LONG road! One I went down myself only 3 short years ago. I have learned though, even though we don't know it at the time, EVERYTHING DOES happen for a reason. I wish I was in AZ to put my arms around you, and give you a hug as you say good-bye (only temporarily) to your BEAUTIFUL Karley! GOD bless You & your family during this difficult time. You have touched MANY of us on this site, and you have made friends that will ALWAYS have you in their prayers. Just dropping by to check on you. Have not heard from you lately, We are down to the two week countdown! well, i'll be leaving for GL in two weeks, I want to make sure I don't get hung up in delays. I am getting so excited!!! Did you order ribbons?
So glad you got a letter. I have not gotten a letter yet, did get a 15-20 minute call on 12/2/11, but that was their first actual day of training so she still sounded pretty positive. My imagination is driving me mad wondering how things are now that they are full blast into training mode. Hopefully I will get a letter this week, I have sent tons, so should have plenty of reading time. Like your daughter, she told me the food was good, and she loves to eat! I ask her if she was cold and she said that they had to wear so much gear that she never got cold. Keep me posted if you learn anything else about their daily life, and I'll do the same... see you in January :)
Thank you for the information. I am working to see if I can get some overtime to help pay for the trip. I was wondering if you knew anything about the train and subways there. I have no problem using public transportation, lol. I went without a vehicle for many years even with my Active duty and single and 3 children. I always find a way.
I am doing so much better today, I was truly blessed to actually hear from my daughter today. I haven't even received the Box yet. She is in the 900 division which I guess is a good thing as that is why she got to call me.. she even said her commander was nice... didn't expect to hear that. This truly is a roller coaster ride. I was able to get her address from her and that is about it, I was in such shock that she called me. Mailed out my first letter and now anxiously awaiting what turn, loop or drop will come at me next. I am glad to hear you got your letter, I heard the first one is the toughest... the time when they are struggling the most.
Hang in there and know that we are very lucky to have such amazing children.
Hi. Good to hear from you. Glad you got your letters!! We got our letters from our son I think about the same time, this past Wed. or Thurs. It was soooo exciting to hear from him and know he is doing well. yay!! Glad everything sounds well with your daughter! I can't wait for the phone call!!! Should be soon. He said something about they have to stay a week in processing during Christmas because everyone that works there has the week off. Not sure what that means do you?? Anyway!! So excited about graduation!! My husband and I are trying to decide where to stay. Sounds like there are a few nice hotels close by. Hope you had a great day!! TTYL!!
My son trains in your daughters sister division, 47. I saw you got a letter, they say to expect the first few to be hard. I was hoping for a letter today but didn't get one. Did she say anything about division 47?
Hi. yes, it was funny my son wrote 3 lines on his form letter!! Didn't say how he was doing, but I am very glad to have seen his writing and love you at the bottom. Yes, on the password question. I put my son's first letter I wrote in the mailbox today!! Yay! So excited! TTFN!!
Got my son's form letter today!!! He graduates January 27th as well!! He is Ship 12 Division 50. Yay! Now I can write!! He only wrote 3 sentences on the back of his form letter. LOL Boys!! So glad to hear from him! Hope you are doing well!! Writing lots of letters now?? ha ha!
I will try to call the recruiter soon! My husband has to know a month ahead of time to take days off from work. Well, now that we got our boxes we can look forward to our first letter!! yay! I can't wait! That is great all of your children are going into the military!! Hoorah!! how cool! Also, happy birthday to your son who just turned 13! My youngest turns 12 on Dec. 11thHopefully this time will go by fast and soon we will see them all dressed up for graduation!! I got a call today. Did you get one to? My son sounded very tired, but said he can handle it.

Could you tell from the letter what day today would be, such as, week 1 day 3?

All divisions have a division they train with and I was told my SR who is in ship 3, division 47 trains with ship 3/division 48.
