OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

Yes we are in Pearland (near Houston) Texas.  My son's name is Derek Chautin. It would be great if he could make friends with SR's of mom's that I am making friends with on here!

We got a letter on Wed., he said he had some really tough days getting about 3 hours of rest at night, so that makes me think that he had been or was going through "Hell Week" then. My letter was also written on Sunday. It was short, he didn't have too much to say, other than he was really tired and not to worry about him that he was going to be okay. I just pray that they are ALL doing okay. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get a phone call yesterday. Did you get a call?

You are welcome. I think his background will help him cope with this. Maybe after PIR he can talk to you more about it. If whomever he was talking to in the psy. area felt he needed to see him more, I think that would be happening. He will be so busy now that hopefully won't think of it often. Such a tragedy...suicide is not easy to deal with, but we are all forced to. It sure helps to talk about it...

Pammie: Oh my gosh! At bc? That is awful! Yes, I do believe they all will get the help they need, but if you are concerned, you may need to try and contact a chaplain up there. How did your son sound? Did he give deails or his feelings about it all? You can also contact the Red Cross and tell them the situation to see what they suggest and she if they can contact someone there for you feel you need to speak directly to him right now? I'm sure that the Navy has learned to work with this tragic event....I would imagine that all involved are told that they can speak to a counselor/chaplain, etc whenever they need to. I think they take this very seriously. I'm so so sorry that your son found him....but I do think that they will help him work through it.

Sorry, I have no info on the 2 who got beaten up by the "runners.". I read it on the posts and it made me very sad to hear that. But make sure to ask your son when he calls. I'm sure he is seeing just about everything at bc....that is why so many of us pray so hard for those in boot camp! I know the RDC's go home at night and the recruit leaders are in charge. But I know there are superiors around to keep control if it gets really out of hand. Please post if you find out anymore details on that incident. Wish I had more info for you on this!

Justin's Mom: Gosh, I'm so sorry that people haven't responded to your posts on boot camp. I try to jump on boot camp and answer when I can because I have already been through the bc experience with my son but I miss lots of posts because it goes fast. I WILL probably will get more help on the PIR group. I know that you joined it, yah! And I jump on those groups too. I actually started your group, and the one before you. Please feel free to send me a question or comment directly if you ever have a question and I will try my best to answer it. Again, SO SORRY! The boot camp site makes my head spin because it goes so fast. And your PIR are SOME ACTIVE LADIES! It is wonderful because they are so resourceful and networking like crazy. Please let me know if I can help at all, ok?
