DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Comehereyoung - You are welcome. Whatever works best for you, I just wanted to make sure you were not alone. Also, I think B'sNukeMom posted that there is a more active FB group for Ship 5 if you need information. Blessings and prayers as you and your family navigate through new seasons in your lives.

comehereyoung - I just saw your message about your son!! I am soo sorry. But as others have said this does not define him and many do not even put forth the effort to serve in our military. Also, if this was a medical condition that the recruiters should have gleaned more information on - then it is in your son's best interest to have been as truthful and honest as he could be.

Hugs my friend! And all the best on your job hunt. I also wanted to invite you to join another group on this site, ✟CHRISTIAN NAVY MOMS - Navy For Moms (ning.com)  If you wish to join you may continue to share with other Navy moms and pray for them and also keep us updated on your son if you would like. There are some other moms that are on the BC Mom group on there as well. It is a closed group, so you will have to wait for me to accept your request - but that is another option versus just leaving the site completely. And feel free to stick around on BC Mom until you have gotten your son as well.

ComehereYoung -- My Husband was an Officer in the 80's and 90's and my middle son is currently serving as a Seabee.  He has been in for 7 years.

comehereyoung - Your French bread looks so yummy. I will have to look at your recipe above.

I noticed your comment in the main chat room this morning. I wanted to make sure that you realize there is NO actual visiting for PIR currently. WE say no Live PIR because family can not visit but the new sailors are still doing their Pass In Review and the command at RTC is video recording it for people to be able to view later and that is why it is being called a Virtual PIR. This link to the RTC website should have the information for you to watch his PIR when his time comes. Recruit Training Command Home Page (navy.mil)  Also this note on one of the pages -

Please DO NOT travel to Great Lakes as Sailors are NOT allowed off-base following graduation. You will not be able to meet your Sailor during their transition to A school as they will not be departing out of local public transportation centers. There will be ZERO opportunity for you to interact with your Sailor at Great Lakes.

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 10 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)
I Hope you’ll come and join us on the Main Boot Camp Moms page: https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms You may have to scroll down a ways to reach the comments but we’d love to get to know you and answer any questions or concerns you may have or just be a support from others who “get it”.

Comehereyoung  - you are welcome. There are times when things can get lost on this site and we just want to make sure everyone is getting the information that they need.

Hi Comehereyoung! Be sure to come over to the BC Mom group page and post there. Scroll down to the comment section. That is where most of the ladies post and those messages will come into the email feeds for people to notice. (I posted this in the main chat reply but you might not see it later.)

At 9:29pm on January 21, 2021, Chipmunk said…

I see you joined the BC Mom group!! Yeah! Do not hesitate to just jump into the chatter in the comment wall there and introduce yourself. This site is a lot easier to navigate on a computer, and if you are on a mobile device, be sure to put it in desktop mode. I understand it is easier to navigate that way on a cell phone.

Good Morning comehereyoung - be sure to join the BC Mom group Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms (ning.com)

once you join the group, scroll down past all of the information, past the discussion and you will come to a comment wall. That is where you can post your comments and questions, and they will more likely be answered there than if you post a blog or something on the BC forum as several of us follow those messages a lot more closely and will likely reply more quickly - at times. We all volunteer on this site so be sure to come back often to look for replies and information here.

Your form letter won't arrive for about 4 - 5 weeks after he left for BC, it just depends on several factors.
