Lois, You are now a member of "MAS We Ship Love" and you have access to the addresses. Sorry if I took a long time, went to a Packing Party in Davenport, Iowa today! Pat
Realized today I can't PM you, have to make you a friend and vice versa! Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. Lots of family things to take care of -- mainly cleaning out my parents' home with my brothers & sisters. My Dad died in Oct. and Mom died 5 weeks later in Nov. They would have been married 60 yrs and lived in that house for 59 of them! That is a lot of cleaning out...
What a nice surprise to find a note from you!! I was hoping RI Moms wouldn't feel like I was "infiltrating" your group. I will PM you my addy and phone # along with any final details, hopefully this week-end.
I saw a note that your son is a CM - Seabee - Reservist. My son is in bootcamp for the same thing. He wanted active but this is what ended up signing up for. What are his chances (if you know) of him getting changed from reservist to full time active?
I sent Marc a card today. OK, he's driving. The PGR here has been known to escort the military along the way. I'll send a message to my PGR contacts and see if something can be worked out. When does he supposedly come home? Just a month is all I need, maybe beginning or end or middle...
Lois, thanks for the address! I'll make sure he gets on our lists. I think coming home from Iraq is a bit different than coming home on a ship. Our son came home on leave in September and then in December from Afghanistan. Is Marc scheduled to come to Rhode Island? We have a Patriot Guard Riders group here that does flag lines at the airport, so Andy got a wonderful welcome both times. If the PGR won't do it (some only do funerals), if you know Marc is flying in, organize your family, friends, veterans to meet him at the airport as a surprise. I'd think an American Legion or VVA would be excited to help with some flags and posters. In our experience, Andy never knew exactly when he'd be home, just a window of days. They keep them in Kuwait for debriefing for maybe a week till there is either a commercial flight or military flight coming to the States. Does that help any? Keep me posted!
Hi Michelle, I deal by keeping in touch with other moms. having faith in the training my son has received, and lots, and lots, of prayers!!! How does your son feel about being deployed?? I found it is best to be positive about the deployment( I wasn't at first) and it affected my son negatively. He e-mails us a couple of times a week, and we have gotten 3 phone calls since he arrived in Iraq inSept. I write to him and mail a letter or card everyday, (even though sometimes I really have nothing to tell him, but I think of something, of course I always write how proud we are and how much we love him,). I send him clippings from the local papers, and pictures from home, it helps me feel connected to him and he "loves' getting mail! also mail a package once a week, sometimes with things he asked for and sometimes, just things I think he wants, or needs.
I and all the moms are here for support. Feel free to call me or e-mail me all my info is in my profile. Your son, you and your family will be in my prayers. Hugs!
Janet, I'm sure you will have a great time at the meet and greet. Are you going to the NYC get together? One of our R.I. moms went to the NY get together when they went to the Today show, she said it was wonderful! I don't know if she is going this time? It's great to put faces with the people we share so much with!
Hi Anna Colleen, just thinking of you this morning, I saw some coverage of Beaumont on the news. You and yours are on our parish prayer chain, God Bless!
Hi Anna Colleen, You are very welcome! I'm not sure, I quess the cool ties and beads would be good, could I also ask for 1 wrap? Thanks again, esp. for the prayers.(p.s. I haven't been called "miss Lois" since I lived in Baltimore in the 70's!!!) I have spread the word and will continue . Hugs and love back at you!
Hi again Naomi, I wanted to tell you about another mom "Anna Colleen Lasalle" she is making freedom wraps that we can mail to our guys. Go to her page and you can read about it.
That's very possible, he did tell me he would be on"lock down" before leaving. I wrote a letter today, and I am going to mail it, so maybe he'll have mail waiting for him.
