OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

I posted a note in BC Moms group to you, but it is best for you to delete your post. Posting the time of their departure starts to infringe on OPSEC. I will try to watch for a note back from you. I am fighting a cold and need to get myself to bed.

Since your recruit has a contract for Hospital Corpsman (HM), sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio and check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. You may also want to check out Corpsman Moms.

The Rating Information Card for HM can be found at; it indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up. There is also info on the HM rating in

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

If your Sailor is picked for the Field Medical Training Battalion (FMTB) then check out Camp Lejeune and FMTB-East Moms, Families and Friends (FMTB will actually be at Camp Johnson, which is down the road from Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC) or Camp Pendleton corspmen and FMF Corpsman momsIf your Sailor becomes eligible for SARC, check out SARC, Special Amphibious Recon Corpsman.

When you speak with your daughter remind her how strong she is and how far she has come.  She will get through this and make it to PIR.

I'm so very sorry for your loss - sending hugs and prayers to you.

I prayed she would make some good friends while at BC. Glad to hear that is happening! Sounds like you raised a great kid as well. I would love to be able to take another new Sailor or two to dinner.

Where is Molly going to A school? Caran is going to Virginia for Culinary Specialist school.
