Hi everyone. I am so happy there is a Michigan page. I am in southwest Michigan - are there any moms in this area? I would love to know about other groups as well (such as Blue Star Moms). Hopefully everyone is having a great weekend

LaurieV, you can sign up at the meeting (I belong to a chapter farther south). I haven’t been on here much and I do check into the Facebook group more often so please post meetup details both here and on FB. My son is a nuke sailor, been in since 2009, married in 2013, and gave us two beautiful grandchildren. There is a lot of valuable information on Navy for Moms so if you're new, check around for helpful files, PIR geoups, and geoups that pertain to your sailor's job/classification. Then you can amaze your sailor with your knowledge. Navy.mil is also helpful and most bases have a FB page. Welcome to the journey. Hope to see some of you at a meetup.

LaurieV - I want to go! I saw on the internet there is a $30 membership fee?  WHat is the best thing to do? Should I just show up for the next meeting in March?  Or should I sign up in advance?

PKM - What part of MI are you from?

Our chapter attendance is between 12-15 each month and we meet from 6-8 (but not for dinner). We also have a list of active duty overseas military that we send care packages/ cards to each month. We're also involved in supporting veterans. Here's our FB link:  https://www.facebook.com/BlueStarMothersDewittChapter99/

LaurieV - DeWitt is about 20 minutes away from me.  Can you send me a link or more info on the blue star mothers group? About how many people meet up and what do you do together?  What should I bring with me? Is it dinner?

Also, I belong to Blue Star Mothers, Chapter 99, in DeWitt. It's a great group of women supporting each other who comprise mainly of moms whose sons and daughters are serving or have served in all branches of the military. We meet at the VFW on old US-27 on the 2nd Wed of each month. We would love to have you join us!

I am interested in meeting up and in getting this group more active! My son is at boot camp right now then hopefully off to South Carolina for Nuclear A School.

I live in the Lansing area.  I am not very good with facebook and find it hard to follow because there are just so many comments constantly!

I love this forum/website because I can keep track of it!

Kim F - What is the link to your Facebook group?

Please join our Facebook group Navy Moms in Michigan. Very active and we do get together.

Let me know if anyone might be interested in a get-together. I would be happy to set something up. We could set a meeting place based on where everyone's coming from. It would be nice to talk face to face with other people, with family in the Navy.
