Anna, where in Florida are you headed? My husband is working out of Clearwater and I'll be visiting him this weekend.  We will be vacationing near Pensacola in July so....maybe we can hook up if the timing is right?

Ladies,

I'm sorry I have been absent for quite awhile.  It's been a crazy and busy month.

Katski and theDisneyMom,

I have been enjoying all the love and support you've been getting from our moms on here.  I really believe we have the best moms on this group, who really reach out and help each other.  We do understand where you are coming from.

I have twin daughters and the youngest decided to join the summer before her senior year.  Before I knew it her high school graduation was here and she was leaving just a week after that.  Worse part for me was that my mom passed away just a month before and I was devestated that my girl was leaving too. This was just before Navy4Moms started so I didn't even have this wonderful website to talk to!!!  Her sister went off to college after high school and then 2 years into college joined the Navy to become an officer after graduation.  She got her degree and immediately left for OCS.  And just yesterday I had to say goodbye to her as she left for Pensacola.  For the past year hubby and I have been living with her in her house in Oklahoma.  Last Christmas her dumba$$ husband decided he didn't want to be married to her anymore and left her.  We put our travels on hold, put our RV in storage and moved in to help her with her house and pets as she finished her last year of constant flight deployments.  She got orders to Pensacola and will be teaching an aviation safety course to pilots and NFOs.  She is an NFO and has been at a squadron at Tinker Air Force base for the past 5 years.  I didn't think it would be so hard to say goodbye since we are back in our RV and ready to start our travels again, and we are heading to Florida!!!  I know I'll get to see her in another month but still - - I miss seeing her on a regular basis.  And her twin is here in Oklahoma and we'll be saying goodbye to her as well.  She's been out for several years and has a good job and a good life here so I know she'll be here for several years yet.  So welcome to the "crazy lady" club!!!!  We are all members in good standing!!!!

bbcregular,

We'll be back on the road again by the beginning of March!!  I'm so happy to be back in our little trailer!!!  I'm missing the girls already but excited for our plans for this year.  Hoping to get to Bar Harbor Maine by the summer!!!

For all of you wonderful moms - thank you for reaching out to our new moms and making them feel so welcome!!!  You are the BEST!!!

Wonderful news. Daughter coming from SK for 4 weeks. It was agreed that she needed an emergency leave and the Navy approved the request in 36 hours. Her Chief and others are really understanding of her situation. Now she gets to experience how us old parents do retirement in a motorhome. We have two rallies coming up while she is here so that can keep her busy and keep her mind off the trauma of the abuse that is leading to the divorce. Florida temps will be in the 80’s next week so we can relax at the pool and do lots of bike riding and walking. Most importantly is when she needs to talk and cry I can hold her. That has been the most difficult, knowing I am 8000 miles away when she needs her moms hugs and love. Thanks for all the prayers.

So true, my daughter is now in Hawaii on a destroyer but when I think back to BC it was so hard - I still tear up just thinking about it.  Of course she was fine but I was a mess.  She actually did go off to college frist thengame home a year later saying she was going into the Navy.  We were so surprised but YES it is nothing like going off to college.  During those days we talked to her often and saw her a lot but BC was isolation on our part.  Of course she was cared for and after BC while in A School she did say BC was not that bad once completed.

Even now with her in Hawaii we get to talk to her often but I someone said the hubby just feels like she is so far away and all these years it was his job to protect her he feels like he can't while at the same time proud of her and how she has grown.  It does get easier and the emotions go all over the place sometimes but proud at the same time.  We get to finally see her/hug her next month when we go visit - so excited.  Face Time is okay once they are able to do it but there is nothing like giving and receiving an actual hug:)

Ladies, I am enjoying hearing of your close relationships with your daughters!  My sailor graduated mid Oct of last year and has always been my rock. Yesterday I was subbing for a cooking class and we watched a baking show. The tears started flowing and I remembered all the times we sat hanging out watching those cooking shows. Having a child join the services is by far more different than anything I could have imagined. I love that a Navy family is included!  ❤️

thedisneymom,

My youngest daughter of 3 left for basic in June 2018, we were also so close as like Blondie was saying. The hardest thing was not hearing from her.  My heart was sick for lack of a better word.  The worst, was receiving that phone call after she arrived the first night at Great Lakes.  I was to say the least devastated.. Then,  when she could finally call me it  was 3 weeks later, so for three weeks all I heard was her sad voice and tears and the screaming from the drill instructors in the background. So, when I did finally get to speak with her after 3 weeks, she was fine ( perfectly fine) .  She was more worried about me because of the phone call I received when she arrived.  please take my advise thedisneymom, I literally was sick with worry, it effected my me so bad.  Your daughter is going to be ok, its just that initial shock and after a couple weeks they really like it, they build friendships and such tight bonds.  The funny thing is, when my daughter graduated from basic she wanted to go back.  She missed it so much and she missed the friends and structure.  She is now in Norfolk on a missile cruiser, and is doing very well.  I still miss her terribly, but I know she is ok.  I feel what your going through and I hope my story helped you a little.  I will keep you in my thoughts and please reach out to me of you need to talk.  I do know exactly how you feel...

Oh the stories! And no! - this is NOT like our girls have gone away to college! Allowing each other to cry, laugh, boast successes  - that's what we're all about. See ladies? We've survived and believe it or not you will too.

thedisneymom, we truly do get you! Hang on, come here often and keep us updated. We feel your heart!

Katski that is my Worse Pet Peeve, when someone says they understand, their child went to college.  Yeah and they could call you, you could call them, they came home on weekends and Holidays.  NOTHING alike!  And I agree even husbands don't completely understand.  They have it hard too don't get me wrong, just not the same.  My husband said the worse for him was Knowing if she needed him he couldn't get to her. Wow, yeah, that's alot to carry also.  That's why this site and group is so Important, we REALLY Understand.

my girl was sworn in 3 days after her 17th birthday - for the DEP program the summer before her sr yr of high school. She just completed basic and grad on 02/08 -  - she was actually schd to leave 02/11 but new job opened was offered right before the holidays and she got accepted - we had 3wks before she left - I thought I had more time - as she left 12/12 - and we were not prepared - or I should say I was not - missed the holidays with her and once again we did everything together - she is our youngest and our only girl - the boys are at least 7 yrs older - she was as our family joke - our OOPS baby (I was 36 when she was born) and how so happy for a girl - we did everything together and this has been so hard.. - it was great to see her at grad! - we actually got all day on Saturday the 9th as well - since her flt went out early Sunday morning...but I miss her soooo freakin much -  - she too worked at my office, she had a rock band that she played in and did a ton of gigs.. you really have to check it out on Facebook - they were called VanderVeer - she was the lead singer and bass player - she started the band when she was only 13 - and they played thru out the town at least 25 gigs a year, was huge in her JROTC and my days seem so empty now..she turned 18 this past Aug and still my baby girl - her boyfriend - which they just got engaged as soon as they got out of basic - He grad 02/01 from the Navy  - as they enlisted together - have known each other for over 4 years and been dating for 3 years - we are so happy for both of them.  I am so glad to come to this site to cry , vent and most of all ask questions without be looked at like I am crazy - no one at my office can understand - this is not like sending your kid off to college, or they are just away...thanks everyone
