My son arrived RTC GL on September 4. I never have received "the box" but noticed that the change in protocol regarding "the box" began part way through Division assignments in Group 52. I have also not received the form letter. I guess my question is: is it really going to take three weeks to get his mailing address? Sadly, his last-assigned recruiter has no access to his information. The PO who recruited him went back to active duty the week before he shipped out. Aagh! Any advice/reassurance?

Hi there - it does take anywhere from 9-14 business days to receive the official form letter.  Until that time you just have to wait!  Go ahead and start writing letters now and # them in the corner.  Then as soon as you get the form letter you can send out all your letters!

You need to be sure to join the boot camp group - I left the link in the welcome message on your page.

In the meantime, remember, no news is good news!

Thank you for your reply, and encouragement! Two weeks today--hopefully within another week I'll have an address and grad date. I had already been writing (as have many others), so eventually, he'll get lots of mail!

I'll spend some time getting to know the site in the coming weeks. I have already changed the privacy settings as well! Thank you again!

Thank you for replying. The form letter finally came today (two weeks), and three letters in one envelope as well. He was just in processing for a long time waiting for a division to fill up. Worth the wait! Love the support here!

Deb S I totally understand how you feel! My daughter arrived 9/5 and I haven't received the form letter or phone call yet. I just keep reminding myself that no news is good news, that she may have gotten sick (we all got the flu right after she left), and/or maybe she hit some sort of delay for some reason (there are lots from what I'm reading on here!). I'm also in Cali and the mail may just take longer to get here. Hang in there, trust the process, and know that if your SR had an issue, they would contact you. If you're someone of faith, lean into it and believe that He knows your situation and can give you the peace you seek. That's what I keep working on! :) God bless you and hang in there!
