My son left for BC last Monday so about 9 days ago. How long before the first letter usually arrives?

Also I see where they have graduation dates listed by division, how do I find out what division he is in?

I'm just really  missing him.

Jakers, I received my information packet Friday. Best Valentine's Day ever! I live in Louisiana. I'm still waiting for a letter from him but it was so nice to finally have some news. I know exactly how you feel with the not knowing, It has to be one of the hardest things to go through. The ladies on this site have wonderful information and just hearing all the tips and info that they gave to me did help me a lot. I am very hopeful that your letter will arrive today. You will feel so much better once you receive it. My fingers are crossed that yours will come today. Maybe we will have the same graduation date...

Jakers - I was thinking about you, Did you receive your letter yet? With yesterday being a holiday it may have put a delay on it.

I am so happy for you!! I know the feeling of just seeing their handwriting, it is so special. My son is also in the 800's and graduates on April 3 as well! It would be so funny if those two know each other. My SR is in division 809.

Jakers-- Have you watched the "Making a Sailor" videos yet?  That will show you what he's doing.  Sadly the form letter is just that, A form letter.  Some sneak in a personal note but most do not. (they are not supposed to so if they do.... Shhhhhhhh. This is not a "Private" space to share that kind of PERSEC info. ;0) ) If your recruit left at the Same time as Heidi's then yes look for that letter this week.  (sadly delayed a day due to the holiday!)  It will get there and it is such a relief when you have that small window of communication. Both ways!!  Just remember they are only "Allowed" to write on Sunday morning but may have duty, Watch, medical, studying, Ironing, Boot shining, Chapel, Shaving..... that also needs to happen then as well. If letters are few and far between, Keep writing them!! They get them daily (Except Sunday) they just may not be able to respond right now. They still Love you very much and are likely missing you as much if not more than you are missing them!! (You aren't getting yelled at or "Beaten" (Made to do extra PT exercises for mistakes made) ) It seems like BC will be forever but when you look back it really is Fast!

I’m a week behind y’all. My son left on Feb 13th...hoping for the info packet / form letter the end of next week. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences...you’re keeping my spirits up! :)

i am from NY-we are 10 hrs away

Hi to all the Moms,

My daughter has been in DEP for several weeks and is officially leaving in 2 days for boot camp.

Just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the questions asked and the answers given.  I'm sure this will be so very helpful in the days/weeks ahead.

Thank you <3

Kassmom--- Quick before she leaves.  Write her an encouraging note.  Put it in her Wallet or Bible (she can keep both/either with her and NOT put it in the box if they are within regs! Black small pocket wallet, small pocket or thin line sized Bible- Not big study bible)  Tell her not to read it until she NEEDS it.  She'll know when that is. Also ask her to call and leave you a voice mail. Do NOT listen to it until you NEED it.  You will Know when that is!! The first few weeks of NO Communication are the hardest and having these little touches can really get them through the worst of the homesickness and the "What the H$&* did I get myself into!" and they can get you through the "My Baby!!!" days when you ache for them!
Don't forget to post on the Main Boot Camp Moms page too.
Watch the videos  "Making a Sailor" and my post will give you an idea of what the first few days/ weeks will look like so you know what to expect and approximately when. https://navyformoms.ning.com/profiles/blogs/boot-camp-first-weeks-t...
