While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Does anyone have experience with the Advanced Electronics Field/Advanced Computer Field. My son is PIR 10/15and is staying in GL for at least 4 months.

Next week my son will be finishing up his A school in GL. He will be coming home within a month for leave and then to C school for specialized training in either Florida or Missouri. When he completes his C school he will be stationed in California. He has been in GL for a little over 5 months now and I am looking forward to him coming home on leave. He called us last night and was so excited to be finished in GL and coming home for a visit. I don't know who is more excited ME or him about him coming home. I wish we had a date but thats not the way it is when you are in the military.

sailor too says he will be home for christmas, at least 5 days. he says the GL school will be closed. anybody hear anything about it?

Hi all my son is attending A school in Great Lakes Graduated Sept. 1st and is going to school to be a EM. he just recently started school last Monday. so from Graduation until Monday the 18th he was waiting for his classes. was told he would more likely be there for 6 months. No C school unless things have changed which I am sure he knows nothing about. Just spoke last night with him and he said he can begin wearing civialian clothes on the weekend and If I can send him some. does anyone have their Loved one in BEQ 634?

Redeaglespirit, Is your son also going to school for EM? My son just graduated too and is staying in GL for school too. He his BEQ 632.

Phoenixmom your information was helpful. I have immersed myself in learning so much this week, just like I did about Boot Camp. It feels so weird to change gears but I am glad my son is finished with BC.

Just an FYI all engineers are aslo called snipes here is a list of engineers and snipes all in the same. they all work together they are the ones who make the ship run. Hull Maintenance Technicians, Damage Controlman, Machinist Mates, Engineman, Electrician’s mate, Gas Turbine System Technician so join enginneers and snipe moms.

Good Morning MomSeanEM2, my son is in great Lakes he just finished yesterday his technical training, Monday he starts ATT after this class then it determines if he gets into A school for EM. they have so many weeks of technical and so many weeks of ATT then with the grades it determines if he attends A school for EM. he Loves it. So I believe all together it totals 6 months of schooling. At least that is what my son had told me. He is in BEQ 634. He graduated BC Sept. 1st of this year. If you go to ratings it will describe what he will be doing and also how long he will be at sea and on land. very interesting. Also google EM they are also known as Snipes and that also is very interesting story. so any info is appreciated. Thank You
