my husband is in 189.  he will be going into this feild when he graduates on june 3rd.  we will be moving to cali, for a school.  my question is how long is A school for CTI's?  and does anyone know how long he has to be there before I can move out there?

The length of A school is dependant on the language.  Courses last between 26 and 64 weeks, depending on the difficulty of the language.  With the time it takes to class up, holidays, winter exodus (Christmas break), etc., they are there several months longer than the 26 to 64 weeks.

As for when you can move out there, don't know, but, one of my son's friend's wife is out there and I don't think it was terribly long before she got there.

that was another question I had.... how long was it before u heard from him once he got out there?
Hearing from them depends on them, really.  They can use a cell phone as soon as they get there if they have received it already.  (We gave our son his at the airport in IL, which is okay to do.  Just make sure he doesn't have one while still at Great Lakes!)  There is computer access on base so you might get an email too.  There would be someone there who would probably loan him a phone to call home should he want too.  Of course, since you are his wife (and not 'mom') he will be wanting to call you asap!  ;-)
Thanks for the info!!  Im gonna go to the airport to give him the cell phone and I hope spend more time.  Two more weeks till PIR for us!!!  I cant wait to just get a phone call once day and I would be happy.  I cant wait to see him!!!  Thank you thank you for the info.  that made me feel better knowing that if he has the phone he can use it out there.

Life really starts to become normal at DLI, especially after GL!  We met our son at O'Hare and spent another 1.5 hours with him which brought our total time together after PIR up to almost 3 whole hours!  Handing off his stuff to him there worked really well.

Hang in there, Battle Stations will be soon and you'll get the "I'm a sailor!" call which is awesome!  Have fun at PIR!

we have 13 days!!!  and 6 until BS21.  I cant wait for that call!!  I just wish we knew more about where he is going out there and if I should be packing or what?  lol  I hope he will have some info when he calls after BS.
He 'should' know his departure date from GL to DLI after BS21 when he can make that phone call.  I'm sure you will hear the pride in his voice when he calls!  Fingers crossed for you both!
