For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

When my son graduated back in Nov 2012, we bought 3 non refundable ticket. After talking with the airline, they told us if for some reason he got pushed back that we could still use the tickets for another day, just had to pay a small additional cost. I believe it was $50 for each ticket which wasn't much considering the cost of refundable tickets. Check with your airline and see if it works that way for them.

Southwest allows you to change your flight without a charge as long as you change at least 24 hours before the flight and you would have at least that much notice. If Southwest is not an option for you, the fee to change tickets is usually not as much as the difference if buying nonrefundable tickets. Check the fees and then make your decision. See Saving Money PIR Weekend for within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) other ideas. I also invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well.
There is no way to predict if your recruit will be one of the ones who has a problem that pushes back or prevents PIR. That is an individual thing and happens due to injury, sickness, failed test, or attitude problems. The RDC's do push the recruits to be ready on time for PIR, but things do happen for some. Around 86 recruits are in a division when the division forms, but around 75 to 80 will actually have PIR with the division. Encourage your recruit to do his best and believe that PIR will happen on the scheduled date.

I just couldn't afford the refundable so we waited until two weeks before his scheduled PIR and took a chance and made our plans. My son had told me that he was passing all the tests up tell then. I was very nervous for the next week until it got the I am a sailor call but it ended up working out for us. He knew for SURE 8 days before. We leave tomorrow and I get to see my son Friday!
