OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello everyone,

My daughter has PIR in a couple of weeks and goes to A school the next day in Virginia. As far as the dormitories are concerned, what is provided regarding sheets, blankets, towels. Also, can she bring her own toiletries with her such a manicure set, medicated face wash and hair conditioners, or would I have to send that after she gets to Virginia? I'm going to PIR and will have an opportunity to give her a small bag containing these items.  Does anyone have any insight into this??

She won't have much room for things in her black backpack and Sea Bag, so only take a few things to her at the airport and then send things to her. She will also be able to buy things she needs. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend and what to take to the airport.

Check your My Page. You can check in the group for her rating that I left for your about what she will need right away.

We have to fly out late Saturday night after doing PIR on Friday and spending Saturday with our son.  Read that he cannot bring personal items or phones back to RTC after liberty.  Any suggestions as to how we can get his clothes, phone and computer to him for "A" school.  We are driving his car down to him (1200 miles) after he gets a couple weeks into his schooling but I know he will want his phone before that.

Proudmom, your Sailor will most likely fly out on Saturday, so you will be able to meet him at the at the airport and give him his cell phone and a few items to put in his black backpack. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Be sure to check out the other info I left on your My Page earlier this month.

Thank you.  I am still waiting for the 2nd letter.  Hoping to have more details from him.  So grateful to you for all the info you provide for those of us doing this the first time.

You are very welcome. He will not have his flight details until very close to PIR.
