OK, who is making cards this weekend? I've got a bunch already made for Christmas, but I'll be making more this weekend. The extras I'll save for Operation Write Home. I want to get a bunch sent out to them over the weekend too. I have a box of Valentines from last year that I didn't use, so I'll pick out a box full to send and then I can start on NEW DESIGNS for this year. Like we need an excuse to make more cards, huh? Hope you are all having a nice relaxing weekend with family and not getting trampled in the after Thanksgiving sales! Be safe. :)~

I should introduce myself....I live in the Portland,OR metropolitan area, married for 37 years, mother of 2 sons and my baby is my sailor. He's a Seabee and stationed at Pt. Hueneme, CA right now. He got married last year and is just coming up on his 1st anniversary. I started stamping about 10 years ago and wish I could do it full time, but I have to work for a living. (The job does help pay for the hobby though, haha) I hope to get to know you all better.

And as we celebrate a national day of Thanksgiving, I hope you are surrounded by family and friends. <3

Barbara, we must be sisters in another life, I keep running into you everywhere I go! I was so happy to find you here and this group. Doing the happy dance!! That's what I get for snooping on your page. hee hee I love to stamp and makes cards too. Yay, sisters!!

Operation Write home is the group that sends hand made cards to the military for them to write home on. They recently changed their name from Cards for Heroes. I found it on the internet and have been sending cards to them for a couple of months now. All the holiday cards have been sent in so now they are collecting for "winter" and "Valentine's Day". They also need birthday and thinking of you cards as well. It's a terrific web site and has lots more information. There are pictures too of cards and military personnel with their cards. Really inspiring. They have collect and sent over 250,000 cards overseas already. Awesome.

Molly's Adopt-a-Sailor on N4Ms is terrific too. So many good things, so little time. LOL

Yay, stampers!

Barbara, I would love the name of that group as well. I make all kinds of cards to send to the sailors. I make sure to send them blank ones as well. I kind of imagine that it is hard to find birthday, aniversary and general purpose cards in the middle of an ocean or the sandbox. I should ask one of our church members, he was overseas and then in SD and is now home in the reserves. I'm sure that he would have ideas as what they like! I have pictures of cards that I've sent out on my page. please stop by and look!

I just noticed the quote on the banner at the top of the page ... when I first got into cardmaking, I used that for one of the cards I made:

Barbara, I would be interested in knowing the name of the group. I used to belong to a couple of stamping exchange groups and I have lots of blank cards I could donate. Thanks!

Agreeing with all! Definitely military/patriotic themed cards are welcome here, but I imagine sailors and soldiers get a little tired of them! I don't think I've actually made any patriotic ones for my son, and when I get around to making some cards to send troops, there will definitely be browns, pinks, and greens, etc, not just red, white and blue! :-)
