OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I didn't hear from my SR on Christmas, although I had ;my phone by my side all day.  :(  Did get a letter Christmas Eve.  I thought maybe they were allowed to call each Sunday, but only have gotten 1 call.  He said he paid for it.

No call from my daughter on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. She is div 049

My son is graduating on Jan. 20th as well. What is the Meet and Greet and do we have to sign up for it prior to graduation?

Check under the MEMBERS tab up top on this page for Old Sarge.  You will find all info for the MeetandGreet there.  It is held the night before PIR for all family members of sailors graduating.

Hi!  Has anyone heard from their recruit recently?  I received one phone call on 12/17 but nothing since.  The payphone was horrible - it sounded like the call was from across the world in 1992!  I am receiving letters, and thankful for that.

Hello SB Mom, I tt my SR 12/23. They just finished hell week. Heading into firefighting training this week. I did send him a phone card and had an extensive call. It was a good connection, we get letters weekly. That had been the extent of communication.

What division are you? We are 049.  As far as I understand we should get a call once they make it through Battle Stations....  I think that takes place the week of graduation.

Hi, I thought my new i phone 7 was broken because I was straining to hear my son. I did talk to him Dec. 30th for a long time. I don't get letters but have gotten two long phone calls.  They are nearing the end now. Can't wait.

Only 2 more weeks!  Still hoping I get a phone call, but at this point I can hold out for 2 more weeks if I have to.  I can't wait to hug him - I have never gone this long without talking to him.  What div are you?

BattleStations should start for some divisions on the 12th...finishing on the 13th with calls that afternoon.  There will be none Fri/Sat/Sun nights and other divisions will start back on Mon night.  This entire PIR group should be completed with their BattleStations by Wed morning.  Remember it is a 12 hr overnight drill for the SRs...with anywhere from 2-4 divisions going in a night.

Also remember that we are not allowed to be division-specific when posting about BattleStations and when they are going---on this site....that info can be traded in private message only.  But when you receive the I'm a Sailor call, you CAN post what division just completed them. Remember they for sure go with their brother division.

My Son's PIR date is 1/20/17 getting so excited.  can not wait to wrap my arms around him. I think I have printed a forest of papers about graduation day and all the do's and dont's and im sure i still will have questions.. Waiting patiently on that "Im a sailor" call.
