OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

My son is in Division 300. He called today. I missed my call :( He called my husband's and thankfully was able to talk to him but I had an appointment and barely missed it. I instantly cried. I sure hope I get to hear from him soon. My husband did say he was having trouble with his calling card. He said every time he called it would take 10 min off. Poor guy tried me a few times, I feel terrible.

has anyone received a call from ship 12/division301 yet? I was asking because others posted they received their first call today but I don't know which division they were from. Hoping we didn't miss it.

Got a call from my son this morning. He sounded tired but upbeat. My wife and I were so happy to hear from him.

Those calls are on the way, you all hang in there.

It is very exciting to hear the calls are coming in.  When I got my form letter, my daughter had written a note that she would be calling next Sunday, which is tomorrow.  We have also planned the entire day to make sure we don't miss the call.  We missed her first "I'm here" call.  We have three younger kids that are all anxious to talk to their older sister.  As is this mom!
