Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello everyone,
It's been a few months since I've been on the navy for moms site. We have 2 sons in the navy. In October one graduated from boot camp and the other graduated from O.C.S. David had OHARP back here in MN., then drove back to R.I. late Nov., then flew back a couple weeks later to get married. They had a short honeymoon and are in their new routine in R.I.

VickiS thanks for the info! Yes Supply School is in Newport so you're right it does make sense for them to just stay put until it starts. I would prefer OHARP just for the fact that I wouldn't have to move to Newport in the dead of winter....i'm from the South and we're not used to snow!! But oh well, gotta do what the Navy wants!

STASH duty
1. Policy. Newly commissioned officers temporarily assigned to an activity while awaiting initial entry level training where the period between commissioning and convening of initial entry level training (including authorization of appropriate advance leave) is greater than 60 days are assigned as ensign "stashes."
a. Upon commissioning, officers will be assigned to appropriate entry level training. Navy Personnel Command division directors may grant exceptions to this policy, only if Training Command (TRACOM) facilities are unable to accommodate the officer as a student. In that case, the officer will be assigned temporarily to an activity whose mission is related to the officer's specialty, recruiting or training with Assignment Category Code (ACC) 108 or 150.
b. Officers will normally be assigned temporary duty aboard an afloat command, preferably to their ultimate command. Stashing at shore based commands will not normally be approved.
2. Assignment Procedures. The following procedures apply for "Ensign Stash" assignments:
a. Requests for an "Ensign Stash" will be directed to the placement officer for the activity making the request.
b. Placement officers will determine "Ensign Stash" availability and, when requests are made, will follow normal procedures in assigning those stashed within the guidelines of the policy stated above.
c. Ensigns stashed for a period longer than 120 days will be assigned for duty permanent change of station (PCS).

Did anyone's LO's have to wait a few months to start Supply School once the completed OCS? My husband graduates from OCS on Feb 18th and might start Supply School in June. The OCS class' Supply candidates that graduate before him are starting in April. He told me that he could either be doing OHARP (recruiting) in his hometown or he could do STASH duty in Newport. He said he is 75% sure he might have to be in Newport. Has anyone had any experiences like this?

James my son was assigned to SanDiego the USS GreenBay him and another guy went straight from Athens he had 7 days to get from Athens to SanDiego and all there stuff.. my sons job on the ship is a Disbo which means a Supply (dispense officer).. he is in charge of 20 guys from laundry to the ship store and other things and the other guy is the foods officer they will change jobs after year.. they work some times 16 hour days and most of the time he doesn't get the weekends off, depends on the captain, my sons room mate in SanDiego is a supply officer on a Sub and they dont work half the hours my sons ship does.. my son enjoyed Athens its a college town he misses it now or the traffic.. SanDiego is way worst in traffic lol
