DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hi There! I'm happy you found the PIR 12/17/10 Group; we have our main page and also several discussion groups including one for 021. I hope you not only find useful information about the Navy, BC and PIR but also gain strength from the friendships you develop through your interactions with the members. I live in Michigan so I am able to participate in the Family Adopt-a-Sailor program. The form I returned had a deadline listed - November 15. All SR's who are eligible for the family program have now sent forms home. The local community is also very active in Adopting our SR's for Thanksgiving! WELCOME! Lori

Patty, I asked diannep, who is a wealth of information to us all. She said that she did not know what the deadline was for signing up for Adopt A Sailor, but that they were given the option. So maybe he already did sign up for that. If you get happen to receive another phone call from him, I was just mention it again and see if there is still time to do that.

Patty, I totally understand how you feel about the holiday. My son has never been away for a holiday either. It's hard to imagine it without them. As I understood it, the recruits were supposed to sign up for the Adopt A Sailor when they first got to BC. I will see what I can find out though and let you know.

Wow, Patti, how are you doing? I just read that you now have 2 sons in the mulitary. Bless your heart. Check the division discussions and you can meet other moms with children in your division. Also if you place the ship and division number in your user name others will know if you are in their division. I look forward to sharing and supporting each other and I am so proud of our children. Just wanted to mention that they usually hold the mail for two weeks so the mail petty officer can learn the mail job. They can start writing letters though but I don't know when they are mailed. I haven't received a letter yet. Hugs. K

Hi Patty, I know exactly how you feel. Go to group PIR 12-17-10. Use the link Jessica left for you. There are lots of moms there with the same concerns. Thank you for being my friend. My son left the same day. Hugs. K
