Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Since you have a Recruit at the RTC, you should change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program. You aren't the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last. You may want to make changes 3 and 4.within OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile).
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Hey!!! Well received a call from my son on Tuesday he is not doing very well, not eating like he used to, not sleeping, having panic attacks which makes it hard for him to breathe, and having a difficult time. I also received his box on Tuesday, which was difficult for me as well. He said the first two days they kept them up straight. He met with psychiatrist on Wednesday they said to give it two more weeks and see how he is doing then. They also allowed him to call on Wednesday night to see if it would help calm him down. I was not here but my husband was to answer his call. He is still having a rough time. He did say he met one guy that talks to him that is from Texas. I received his address and form letter and sent letters out. he said it would be two more weeks before he can get them. We did not hear from him last night, might heart aches wondering how he is doing.
Ohhhh HA HA HA funny! My son (Jared) moved into his sister's room after she left pretty quick... I think it was because he missed her, although he really didn't want to admit it :) at least not to much. he just said her room was bigger, but I think if it was measured it may have been an inch smaller, and he never even got rid of all her stuff! The crazy thing was going to the grocery store this past weekend. The first time in 22 years that I have gone to shop for myself. That was really weird, I wandered around the aisles trying to remember what "I" liked.. finally decided I wanted brussel sprouts! ha ha ha that was weird. So my daughter in Houston calls me yesterday crying telling me she misses her brother.... ahhhh she has been living in Texas for many years now... but she just cant talk to her brother... I guess we all are just feeling disconnected No texts, no calls, no facebook activity... I imagine he is probably freaking too at least we have some normalcy to our lives.
Yeah, My eldest was my daughter... that was WAY different... This mother son bond is bigger, I also am a single mom so him leaving has left me in our family home alone.... so I have found myself wandering the halls talking to the walls HA HA ... and his cat trying to calm him down LOL. but I have already cleaned his room up and the bathroom (boy was his bathroom a mess). I already have a Scentsy in in and turned it into a nice guest bathroom. :) my next trick will be eventually turning the his bedroom into a guest room.. but not until the end of the month.
I am holding up okay. Getting his box yesterday just tore me up a bit though. Just when I think I am doing okay, it was kind of a set back. LOL. The whole room smelled like him when I opened then box, his cat even smelled him. :) He is my youngest, and my last child at home.. so it's kind of rough... but I will be okay.... So thankful I found this site! I know when my eldest went to the USCG 4 yrs ago, the support from other moms was amazing. J.
My son's A school is in Great Lakes also. I wonder if they have met each other? It will be such a climate change being out of Texas heat and experiencing Chicago cold weather. He has never been in cold or snow like that. I am just ready to hear his voice and maybe it will relieve some of the anxiety I am feeling! It is hard to go in his room and see his truck knowing he is there and not here. Hoping the time will pass by quickly.... it has only been 5 days and seems like forever!
