Hopefully the journal helps. That was a good idea. My daughter sends her letters often just telling her what she did that day sometimes. But I agree you have to keep it positive. I hope your daughter can adjust to the change especially considering how positive it is for her sister. It sounds like they are working very hard but Danelle is excited to get it over with and start her job so I am thinking they are doing OK! I know my daughter seems to be handling it OK but she too has her days. I'm not sure if yours would be interested but if it would help I can ask mine if she would be willing to talk to her via FB or something. Maybe just talking to another sister would help?
My SR is 18 and her sister 21. Her sister moved out the summer before last. She works and goes to school part time so she keeps very busy--that helps. Since she was already out on her own she already has that little bit of separation that helps her. But she has sent letters and cards to keep in touch and I share everything I read and hear with her. Did you see the comment about the N4M sisters of navy sailors group? Not sure if it would help but maybe the one on facebook, Proud Sister of a U.S. Navy Sailor, since that is so popular now. Prayers seems to be the most helpful thing for me at this point because there seems to be really nothing else I can do. I just hope they earn that phone call SOON.
Hi--yes it is very special. I had no idea though until I saw the WAVES ceremony. We got so little information ahead of time. As a mom of two girls also I never thought I would ever have to experience military anything. She surprised me with that one! Danelle is doing better it seems with each letter I get. The last one she said she is doing good and "can't wait to get this over with and get on her ship". I hope Alexis is doing well also. They seem like quite a group!!! Good luck to your daughter and to you as well.
