OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I see you have joined your PIR group; I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Since you have a Recruit at the RTC, you should change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program. You aren't the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last.

Ask your husband about it, he should send you a letter or maybe you can find a PDF online anyways you fill it out with your info and his/her name along with the name of the buddy they are bringing with. You pick them at between 8-9 am and they have to be back by 7:30pm. You cannot take them more than 50 miles from GL. The letter has to be sent back to GL by Dec 13 I believe.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in NovemberYou will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there. The Page, When Will the Recruits be Paid? and Information for Spouses, has important information for you.  You may want to join Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.
