OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I am here to support my
Self
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Needed to learn more about it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
Honor, Courage, Commitment
My name is Kaylee, I am 18 years old. I ship out July 27th and am the daughter of ‘Proudmom’. I made this account for the sole purpose of letting you moms out there know how your son/daughter may be feeling (my moms gonna freak when she sees im on this, she is absolutely addicted to this site)

So just some thoughts from me:
The things you discuss on this website are slowly becoming my reality, and it is a bit overwhelming… Acknowledging the fact that I am actually shipping out soon sends a whirlwind of emotions through me, so much in fact, that I actually feel like I have to take a nap afterwards because it really is emotionally exhausting. I may not show I am excited to leave for boot camp and start my new life (and neither might your shipper) but the truth is, if I was any MORE excited I would die of a heart attack. I am actually SO excited that the mere glimpse at the pedicure I got with my mom the other day (an American flag and NAVY written on the toes) makes my heart skip a beat and my eyes well up with tears of pride. I almost can’t even look at the anymore! I have NEVER felt such strong emotions about something in my entire life that it actually creates a sense of fear within me.

I will never admit my feelings of fear to my mother face to face due to the fact that I do not wish for her to worry about me anymore then she already does. Sometime we children hold our feelings in for your sake mothers! The truth is, it HASN’T actually registered that I am leaving soon, and I hope it doesn’t hit me until I leave. I feel it would be easier that way, instead of being this emotional wreck my last few days! When I cry, my mom cries, and when my mother cries, you can usually find me with tears streaming down my face as well. My mom is the strongest person I know and has gone through so much, and to see her at a weak point and crying really gets me (esp. if it has to do with me in some way or another). Creating more tears and fears for her is the LAST thing on my agenda, so the feelings I am having will remain bottled up.

Yes we may slack as our ship dates get closer, we do this as a way to block out the fact that it’s almost here! Our futures only a few measly days away! We appreciate your efforts to keep us motivated and although we may yell at you for it, we really do appreciate all the nagging. It shows you care, it shows you’re in it with us, and it helps to keep us accountable for our actions whether we like to admit it or not.

I honestly believe the little things you do with your child before they leave for Boot camp will affect the way the rest of your relationship will be throughout their navy career. (Make sure it’s a good one!) Anyways, I know I wrote a lot, I apologize. If anyone has any ? they would like to ask, that they cannot ask their kid when it comes to how they feel about certain things, feel free. I am now an open book. EXCEPT FOR YOU MOM, NO QUESTIONS! =)

Thank you moms for all your love and support!
