"They do but he should make it a point to get to a pool and practice!  If he doesn't know where he can get in a pool he can ask his recruiter.  It will be better/easier if he knows he can pass the basic swim quals.  Or at least…"

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. Welcome to the Navy... Everything will be ok!  The First part is some things to do before your SR leaves IF you Can, It’s NOT ESSENTIAL! Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

Good evening, I have had a very busy day today and I have not had a chance to post in our group. I was wondering how your son's day went?

So, I did not read your comment to me (which I am keeping private), until I posted the other information. Your son wants the same rate as mine is, so I will try to write more to you later. I need to get lots done today, but we can chat. You should be all set to post on the group page, and I will be in touch.

PS, if you can log in on a computer, if not already, it is easier to navigate this site. Have your son help you. :-)

I approved your group request. Be sure to come to the group page and scroll down to the Comment Wall. Feel free to post a hello there and your prayer request. I see you accepted my friend request, so I am also going to send you a PM (private message).

Good Morning, so I learned something new today. I did not know what the PiCAT was, so a Google search brought up several links. I am sharing this, not to advocate paying for any test prep, but just to share the other information - PiCAT Test Questions (asvabbootcamp.com)

The PiCAT Pretest Can Help You Ace the ASVAB | Military.com

As for taking the test, if your son has done well in school and has a general good working knowledge of various things, then he should do well. My son was able to take the ASVAB at our local homeschool convention. I intended to have him take it just for another standardized test to keep for his records. Never considered that we would have a recruiter come knocking on our door.

I am going to send you a friend request because then I can send you private messages and you may ask me questions there. Not everyone sees the main room chats and those disappear after a day or so. If you accept the friend request, please let me know. I do not get a notice when someone accepts my requests, only when they send a friend request to me. Thanks!

I am also giving you this link to our Christian Navy Moms group. (click on the blue letters) It is a private group, but you may feel free to join it now if you are not sure you want to join any other groups on this site yet. Our groups are the best way to communicate with other members. I will have to "approve" you to join this group, once you request to do so, click the join button that I think is in the top right of the group page.

I do not view this site on my mobile device, I use my computer and so I may not see messages for a few hours, depending on what I have going on - and today is busy. - But I should be notified and will approve as soon as I am able. If you are using a mobile device, we recommend that you put it into desktop mode. A lot of times it seems that members viewing on mobile devices have trouble seeing the entire screen.

Let me know if you need help with anything.

Hello  Iconographygirl, I saw you were online and thought I would stop by and say hello. I hope you are finding information that is helpful to you and your son or daughter. Feel free to join any of the groups on this site. My sailor has been in for 5 years and is now married to a sailor.

There are others on here who also have kids that have served for a while as well, so feel free to ask questions.
