About me:
Update -

My Son just got his orders today (8Dec09) and will be going to San Diego after C-School in Norfolk, VA!!!! WooHoo!!!! 8-hours from home!
My son has been in Pensacola since April 2009. Graduated A-School mid-November. And just got his Orders!!!! 8Dec09.
My son graduated from GL on 4/17/09.
We had three wonderful days with him.
Tuesday, 4/21 he flew to Pensacola, Florida for A-School.
We're sad that he's not with his new BFF's!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My son left for GL on Feb. 18th. Is in Div 922, Ship 6. Has been chosen for Honor Guard. We will be at PIR on 4/17/09! Hope to meet you there!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My son leaves for Great Lakes on Feb. 18, 2009, then to A-school in FL. He's our only child. We're very proud - but, will miss him terribly.

He enlisted in August 08 and in DEP (Feb '09)- going into Aviation Electronics program. He chose DEP, so he could be home for his birthday and Christmas this year, to help make that 'moving away from home' transition a little bit easier (for me).
I am here to support or represent my:

Was concerned or afraid
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Joey A's Mom

We saw our son our Sailor graduate on 4/17/09!

There are no words to express the emotions we felt seeing our son in Great Lakes. The first time we got to lay our eyes on him after 8 weeks, and he was dressed in his uniform - so handsome! We really made the best of every moment with Joey over the three days. Yes, I have to admit - it felt so good to be able to spoil him rotten for those three days. Whatever he wanted!

We also loved meeting Joey's new best friends. And, we loved meeting their parents! I have friends for life just as Joey does… Continue

Yes, I know exactly what you mean by being done with it! Right now for me it feels like a Never Ending Story! Just when I think I've got a handle on his being gone he's off somewhere else! I really liked the idea of his being at Virginia Beach..kind of blocked out the major deployment possibilities! But there he is...and he's lovin' it! We have no control now and boy is that a hard one! They belong to the Navy now

HI,
I just read your post..I understand how you feel. Both you and your son are on a journey. Oh, how we yearn for their laugh, their mess, the energy they brought to our lifes! My Nick is my only child too. Even though he has been in the for almost two years the pain of seperation lingers only not as hurtful as in the beginning. Oh how your heart will swell with pride and joy at his PIR!!! It is quite the sight to see. Soak it all in! Congrats on his being chosen for Honor Guard. I think our children are the bravest people I know. To make a life changing decision full of unknowns takes courage and trust. My son is on his first major deployment and will be a sea at least 5 mos. I thought is would be easier somehow but it has been a bit more difficult. Communication is sporatic and not knowing where in the world he is or will be is hard but I hold close the belief that this is what he has wanted since he was a little boy and he is now living his dream.

Hey!! I just thought you should know that Drey is in the honor guard too! He said that there are only 30 of them for now so that really narrows it down. Now I bet for sure that Joey and Drey are friends! That is too cool!

I am so happy that you got a letter! I can't wait to get mine! I bet you were so happy I can hear it in your voice! Wow about the smile.....that makes me nervous. Although I don't think Chris smilies very much but he can be sarcastic (at least with us!). Uh oh! We will have to see. Thank you for the links to bootcamp, I just watched them. They were very eye opening. I sure hope my son does well and graduates on time.

Looks like our sons are a week apart. I am so nervous but excited about seeing him at graduation. I can't wait to get there! So you live in Northern California then? I bet it is nice up there this time of the year. Do the boys get to call home at all during bootcamp? I was suprised that when Chris called me for about 10 seconds that he said that he would be able to call in about a month. I thought that they were only allowed to write. I can't wait to get his address....how long did it take for you to get Joey's address? By the way I love the name Joey, that's my husbands name!

Hello!
I am so glad to find moms that have a son that is with mine!!! It just makes me feel better to talk to someone that has someone with Jeremy. I have been so excited in the last few minutes and commenting to all the moms with a child in Jeremy's group. I see that he will be attending A school in Florida. That is what I'm worried about. Jeremy will make such good friends in boot camp and then they will all leave him. He will stay in GL for his A school. I so wish it was Fl. That is alot closer to me. I'm going to write Jeremy this morning and ask him about Joey.

We've been waiting for that to happen now that the site is hitting it's first anniversary. I have a new friend here by the name of Peri, her son will be graduating the same date as your son but he is in a different division. I believe she was going to set up a group for 4.17.09 PIRs so everyone could meet. Good luck to your son and let me know if you have any questions.
