"Welcome to Navy For Moms!! I'm glad you found us!! I am forwarding a very important message from our website admins. You will need to make a few changes. Welcome Aboard!!
Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!
LynnB......d, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your full name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)
Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.
There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
If you would like information on your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.
I'm sorry, I missed one other little detail. We also request you not use your last name in the URL associated with your profile. I'm including the directions to make this change as well.
When you need to change the name on your URL: Click on "Settings" in the upper left part of your profile page. Under My Settings click on "My Page" The next screen says "My Page Settings" in the middle. Go down to "Address" and in the box next to "http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/", make the change to just your user name, and/or random letters and numbers, with no spaces or use underscores for the spaces. Then go to the bottom and click the "Save" button. If you are making the changes on your Smart phone, you will need to change to Desktop View before making this change because in the mobile view, you will not have the option to make the change and the URL will already be different from your Username.
Sorry to hit you with all these rules right off the bat, but it is for the safety of all our sailors. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
We ask that our members not use a last name in their Username - even if it differs from their Sailor's - so please head to “Settings” on the main page as soon as possible to create a new Username, then add a profile image and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.
Then jump right in! Browse around the site and check out the groups and their Discussion Forums Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas! You can join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.
Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question. This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor. Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
