DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Meri, I wanted to check and see how your son is doing. Any updates? My son is still there in ship 5, hoping he comes home soon, he said the list of people leaving this week came out and he wasn't on it. Hopefully next week. He is in good spirits though and ready to come home and train and wait his 6 months. Please let me know what is happening with your son.

INFO FOR THOSE WITH A RECRUIT WHO HAS BEEN ASMO'D TO SEPS FOLLOWING THE OFFICIAL PFA

If your recruit is ASMO'd to SEPS, join Ship 5 Moms(Formerly Ship 17) and see http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/faq.html#separations and FAQ about SEPS for more information on SEPS. The separation process takes 10 to 20 business days, so do not expect your recruit to be home right away. Recruits separated for failing the PFA receive a reenlistment code of RE-3F and will require a waiver in order to reenlist.

Hi Meri, I am so sorry to hear about this, they are making big changes and the run was one of them. here is info hopefully this will help.

Any recruits who fail both the first and the second attempt of the PFA are sent to SEPS to be separated and sent home. If this happens to your recruit, join Ship 5 Moms(Formerly Ship 17) and see http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/faq.html#separations and FAQ about SEPS for more information on SEPS. Your recruit will call and let you know that s/he has been ASMO'd to SEPS as soon as the decision is made. Recruits separated for failing the PFA receive a reenlistment code of RE-3F and will require a waiver in order to reenlist.

What division is your recruit in?

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) and change the Privacy Settings for this page from "Anyone" to "Members."

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to “Enlisted” or “At Boot Camp now.” Either is appropriate, but if you make the change to “Enlisted” now, then you wont have to change it again.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

If you would like information on your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.

This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.

Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
