Hi, well you see he has a sleeve and because his command doesn't take issue with it, he thinks all is well. He has been in for some time now so he is aware that there is issue with them but you know the thinking, if I can get away with it now, then…

As long as he doesn't get any on his lower arms or hands hes fine. I just make sure mine are covered by a short sleeve shirt. Your supposed to get permission I imagine but ive seen probly hundreds of sailors get tattoos that are covered by a shirt w…

So long as the tattoo is coverable it shouldn't affect his career at all. If he hasn't shipped yet and and thinking of getting one he should talk to his recruiter because it will have to be approved before he leaves. My husband is a Chief with tatto…

Bravo for you! I love meeting new people, which is one reason I didn't mind moving to new cities as a Navy wife. Finding people who share a common thread is what support groups are all about. And there is one for just about anything these days. Hope your weekend is great. Lenora

My son is DC and loves his job. Of course he misses home, but he's excited to be a part of something bigger than himself.

Definitely! You are in a large city, not to mention a Navy city, so the chances of meeting some other Navy moms is pretty darn good! My son called from overseas on the Fourth of July, so I'm happy about hearing his voice.

Hi Patty, Welcome! Yes the lunch is open to everyone in the area. I hope to meet you there. P;ease join the Jacksonville Navy moms group. you can find it listed on the left side of my page. We have several moms from this area. Some with kids in boot camp and some with sailors that have been in for awhile.
Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you, we were up in Norfolk with our son. He is getting ready for his first major deployment, so we went to spend some time with him.

Patty, Look for meet and greet events in your area. I've seen some listed for different cities on navyformoms. You are in a pretty cool city! I miss living in Navy towns, because I felt like a tourist all the time. We always got out to do fun things in our community.

Hi Patty.
Welcome to NavyforMoms. There was no internet support (what internet?) when I was a Navy wife, so I'm loving that we can have this as moms. Sharing lightens our burden. talk soon...

Thanks so much for the encouragement Patty. Is your son making the Navy his career, or is he nearing the end of his duty?

About me:
I am the very proud mom of my youngest son Jared who joined the Navy in January 06. He is stationed in Norfolk on the USS Iwo Jima as a Damage Controlman (DC3). He has completed a volunteer tour in Iraq as of last October. My son in law Scott is Navy also and is stationed in Milton Fl as an MA. He is currently in Iraq. I am missing them both so much. I do not get to see either of them very much any more................
I have been married to my husband for 28 years and am enjoying life in sunny J'ville, Florida!

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Don't have too much yet, my son has been in for 3 years now and has another 3 to go. I am praying that he will be able to find his nitche and excell and take advantage of the opportunities this brings to him.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
