Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I see that you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page to remove it from there as well. Number 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) will tell you how to fix that. There may be other changes you will want to make as well, such as change number 3. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
You are very welcome. I look forward to seeing you in some of the groups, especially Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).
AIT is an Army and an Airforce term for what the Navy refers to as "A" School. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.
As far as Christmas, your then Sailor will check in at her "A" School and go through INDOC and put in a chit to have leave sometime over the holiday stand-down at the "A" Schools, which is from close of business on 20 Dec 2013 to 5 Jan 2014. She will have between 5 and 10 days of Leave during that time, which may or may not include Chirstmas. She will only have earned 5 to 7 days of Leave by then (2.5 days of leave per month of service from the date she was sworn in on the way to BC), but most commands allow the Sailors to go in the hole on Leave at that time. She will be able to earn it back before graduating from "A" School, but then she may not have time built back up to be able to take leave before going to her first duty station depending on the lenght of her "A" School.
