A little about me:
I am the mother of 2 sons. Oldest (23) left for boot camp 5/10. My youngest graduates high school this year. Other than my boys my loves are my 3 doxi's. My son's father was in the Navy as well as his grandfather and great grandfather. I am very shy and hopefully will be able to reach others who are in need guidance through this unknown journey.

The Navy taught me alot as a young bride and mother but I know this new Navy will teach me more. I have friendships today that I treasure from Germany, and Italy. The Navy taught me pride in my country and our people. It showed me I had alot more strenghth than I ever knew.

Well, we didn't get to see Joe. But we did get to talk to him on the phone on Wednesday. He noted that he did indeed know your son, and thought he was the greatest. He said that when he originally met him, he seemed kind of scary, but soon realized he was "a big teddy bear" :) (Don't tell either of them I told you that). He said your son was a really caring person and leader of the division and he felt honored to know him. He still hasn't made it home. Apparently, he is going into the travel people today to arrange the trip home. It was hard to drive by the base on Wednesday night and not be able to see him (we took a wrong turn to the motel on Wednesday). We did have a good time with family over the weekend though and Joe will be home soon! I don't know yet if he got to go to the graduation or not, will probably hear from him today.

Had a scare yesterday, tried to access my site and make comment to you, but it wouldn't let me on. I was afraid I had been cut off since Joe had been separated. Anyhow, just in case I really do get cut off the site, thought I would leave my e-mail address, just write NavyforMoms in subject line if sending so I know its you. My address is celsjl@yahoo.com and my name is Chris Lipscomb
Still don't know if Joe gets to go to graduation. I lived by my phone except for 30 minutes on Sunday--just guess when he called. He didn't leave a message. I feel so frustrated. Supposedly, he gets 2 calls a week (I only hope his weekday call isn't when we are in the airplane on Wednesday.

The call last night was such a welcomed relief. Joe's first call to us was horrible, he was terribly home sick and really not doing well. Then nothing for like 2 weeks. I was really freaking out. Last night he was much more up beat and seems to be having a great time. Hopefully everything continues to go well for him. We are definately staying until his leave is up. We have extended family a few hours away and have told them they can come up to visit (I feel a little bad because we haven't ever been to travel to see them, and this time, are so close and still can't seem to get to their home), but we aren't leaving until we have to. We are staying at a place called the Red Carpet Inn and are scheduled to arrive in Chicago 7:30 pm on Wednesday. I think there are a few of us trying to arrange a get together. I am looking forward to putting names and faces together.
