Hi Cindy,  Wow--I feel bad complaining when you have a son-in-law & granddaughter to think about too.  I will pray for you & your family as well as all military families.  I'm sure you're right--once you hear that they are ok--things get easier.  Ryan called tonight but we only talked for about 2 mins.  Hopefully, he'll call again this weekend.  Not much time left on the cell phone usage.

Hi Cindy--how pathetic am I?!!  My son is not gone yet--but soon.  Even being in Hawaii is hard--so long between visits.  But I do love this site & am really feeling that I will cope better with the help of all the Navy Moms that I'm reading about.  Ryan is pretty good about e-mailing when he is underway.  I'm counting on that.

Cindy,

I just read your message that you sent to the group about your daughter's separation from her daughter!!  You do have a double whammy going on there - - not only will the communications between you and her be less often, and mostly by email, but to be separated from her little girl will be hard.  Will her husband and baby be staying in San Diego?  One thing that might help her to keep sending her encouragement and supportive letters or email (like back in those days of BC!!) and let her know that she is doing a wonderful thing for her and her family and she'll be back with them soon!!  Are you close to your sil so that you can talk to him on a regular basis and be available if he needs any help?  My sailor daughter is also married and her hubby recently went out on deployment and she was really worried about how she was going to deal with the separation.  Her hubby's on a sub so they don't get much communication with their families.  I told her I would always be available to talk to when she was feeling lonely or anxious.  We had so many nice long mother daughter talks and before we knew it he was coming back home.  She still thanks me for helping her get through that first one!!!!

Hope this helps.  Let me know if I can do anything else for you!!!!!  Sending big NavyMom hugs to you and your daughter!!!

Cindy in Paris,

I see you joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  We are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  I see you are brand new to N4Ms but it looks like your daughter has been in for awhile.  Is the BH her first duty station?  What is her job?   Please feel free to jump in and join our chats.  You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughters Naval careers and we are always there for each other!!!   Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!
