For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

To post a photo (the way I see it on my computer, not sure how to on phone) is right above where you write your comment there is a gray area in the 'visual mode' tab with options for font, etc. Right above in the little boxes you will see a paperclip, clipboard, film, photo, link. click on the photo icon and choose your file from your computer photos and click 'ok'. That should do it!

Oh Hon!!! I KNOW!!!!! There is nothing for me to forgive!!! Your nerves are RAW and I touched one with my post. I was not wanting to cause pain but to give you and other new to this moms a possible way to express what they were going through. I was the blubbering mess Once too and I too took a well meaning comment completely wrong. I hope you know that you are not alone even when this time/ adjustment feels so lonely!! I hope you feel better today and that every day going forward gets easier.

Galina-- Please Accept my deepest apologies. I'm sorry if I upset you. That was not my intention. I did realize after your post that I missed the "Tissue Alert" that I usually post along with these things.
We(Veteran moms) so often cover the fear and sadness of New Boot camp moms with "No News is Good News" and "The Navy will do amazing things for them" and while those things are true we also have a responsibility to acknowledge that sometimes things are not good and sometimes the Navy is not a good choice/influence on our kids. Both are the realities of the Navy and I want to make sure that those who are not seeing all the good all the time feel that they also can share without feeling that they are going to be judged because we GET it!! I want them to feel safe to be real and not feel that they have to have on this mask of "Everything is Happy and perfect" if it's not! Being real is the only way to get thorough those really hard times!
Again I did not share to hurt anyone and I deeply care that all our New moms on the Boot camp moms page feel welcome. I hope you stay not for me but for YOU!!! The support from ALL the moms is very helpful!

Hi galina - if your son has already graduated from BC then you may change your profile to show stage of (sailor's) Navy career from BC to Enlisted. Also, you might want to join our newly created group Beyond BC where we will be able to answer your questions about A school and you can stay connected with others whose sailors are enlisted now.

Galina - As I said in chat, we don't openly talk about the specific dates for Battle stations in our public groups. But here is some general information -Battle Stations-21 (BST) - Navy For Moms (ning.com)
If your new sailor is able to call you, they will make their "I'm a sailor" call anytime during the week prior to their PIR date. That said, this COVID situation has changed a lot of that. some get a call, some don't some recruits have actually marched in their PIR before their division has gone through BS. Most importantly keep your phone close by and ringer on loud. They will make that call still from a pay phone. They won't have their cell phones back until they are in route to their A school.
Here is the information from the RTC website as to when and where to view the "virtual" PIR ceremony.
* * * Graduation Ceremony Guest Attendance Suspension * * *
The U.S. Navy has suspended all Recruit Training Command formal, large-scale graduation ceremonies until further notice as part of its proactive approach to protect our mission and limit the potential spread of COVID-19.
Recruits will continue to graduate and participate in a smaller-scale ceremony, which will be videotaped and posted each FRIDAY on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand/ as well as our YouTube channel for RTC Public Affairs.
This virtual graduation will remain posted on Facebook and YouTube indefinitely for subsequent viewing.
This decision was made after considering recommendations from the CDC and medical professionals to support the well-being of our students and staff, and to maintain our mission essential function of providing basically trained Sailors to the fleet.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will resume graduations with guest attendance as soon as it is safe to do so.I hope this is helpful. Be sure to check into the main BC Moms group as well.

galina - I just saw your post in the main room chat!! I am soo sorry that you missed your "baby's" call. My son has been in the Navy for 3+ years now and I along with other moms help out on this site. I see you just joined the other day from B'NukeMom's comment below. She gave you the link to the BC Mom group - see the blue letters - if you click on that it should take you to the group where you can join.

We would love for you to come there and join us. We have a lot of information and we share with you in your ups and downs of BC and adjusting to Navy Life. When you go to the group page, be sure to scroll past the upper section and information, go past the discussion section and find the Comment Wall. That is where we do our daily chatter.
