Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

I hope your son is excited to be part of the final cruise of the Big E. There is supposed to be a lot of fanfare when she comes home. After 50 years of service, she will be decommissioned. Be sure to check out Discussions on the Enterprise page, there is one that has the address for the ship and also info on how to get free boxes from the Post Office. Make sure once your son gets to the ship he sends you his box number, that will be the only way he will receive mail. Also, you may want him to look into getting a ship to shore phone card before he leaves. He will need that if he wants to call home. Make sure he takes at least 2 good locks with him. Unfortunately theft does happen, he wants to keep all he prized possesions locked up. Things have been known to disappear, even uniforms, sad to say. As for food, my son likes to keep proteins in his rack, in case he misses a meal. Beef Jerky, Nuts, ganola bars, etc. I am sure I am forgetting something. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

My son has been in the Navy for 8 years now, this is his 2nd depolyment with the Big E. After this, he will stay on to help decommission her and then he finally will get some well deserved shore duty.
