Hi Jacob'smom - look in the discussion forum on the "Nuke Mom's" site.  There's 2 good discussions - "A Sailors needs for A School" and "Your Sailor's schedule upon arrival at GC".  Both of these will give you lots of info abot nuke school and what to expect!

Welcome!

I live in Southern Illinois, not sure where we're staying. Any suggestions. So glad to find another mom with a SR going into Nuke. Wish our SR's were in the same division.

Hi! My son's name is Thomas Austin. He goes by Austin so I don't know how they will be actually addressing him...Thomas or Austin? Anyhow...Yes that is a Navy sweatshirt but I found it at a second-hand store :-) My son told me that is job assignment was Aircraft Handler, when he first signed.  As far as I know, he didn't change it. My sister is on this site also....my nephew is in bootcamp and graduates the same day as well.

Thank you so much. I did send phone card in letter I sent out yesterday so hopefully that will get to him, but will mention Jacob; I'm sure they know each other being both Nukes and all. Husband went through same program 30 years ago; so if you have any ?'s we will try and answer. Of course some things have changed since then; my husband told him to call them sir which I here now is a no no unless officer. Hopefully someone else messed up before he did. My son is also a computer/gaming geek sorta goes with the whole Nuke theme. Glad to converse with someone in same boat so to speak. Again thanks for generous offer. My sons name is Ian Wetzel by the way.

Trish
