Profile Information

A little about me:
I am a single mother of three children one girl and two boys. I have one grandson and am a return student at Mesa community College in Mesa Ariz. My Major is nursing at this time, but I have picked up a serious hobby of ceramics while here at school. I am a mother of a wonderful and very beautiful daughter that is in boot camp in great lakes naval base she will graduate on June 28th 2012 and I have to go there and I really never been out of Texas or Ariz in my adult life so I am having trouble finding hotels that are close to base..
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was concerned or afraid
The Navy offers opportunities that...
well at this point I will have to say disappointing about the promises that were made to my daughter on behalf of money available to her for her back school loans ..her recruiter (Benjamin E. Hughes) said she would quality for 70.000 then 40.000 than supposably there was a paper that was not signed and now she can`t get No help(funds)with past school financial aide but may qualify for future funds..she was one credit away from graduating From A.S.U. in Tempe Ariz and she left because she thought this was not only a great opportunity but that she could trust recruiter/Navy to keep there word..I guess this is very important to me because this is my child and I totally believe in our armed forces and have many family members who are serving or have served all the back to vietnam that I know of ;could be future back and I think soldiers should be put first and not have to go through all this Red Tape B.S.....!!!! I also have to say that this only the beginning of are 8 year experience with the Navy and am looking forward to seeing change from what I have delt with so far ..Look for the positive in all.....!!!

mompinon,

Aww such sweet comments from you!!  Thank you!!  I will say that they Navy has changed quite a bit since I was in.  We didn't do half of the stuff our girls get to do today!!!  Sorry couldn't help you with the LOC thing.  I even asked my daughter who just got out and she doesn't know either!!

mompinon,

Thank you for your kind words!!  Unfortunately I don't recognize being held back for LOC and I'm not sure what that means.  Your daughter is in bootcamp now correct?  Is she being held back or is it someone she's telling you about?  I know recruits can get held back if they get seriously sick, or injured, or if they are seriously failing.  So not sure what the LOC would stand for.  Sorry - - but if you find out please share!!!!!  Hope your girl is doing well and you won't have to worry about that!!!!

N4M is just one more set of letters we have to start learning! lol (Navy 4(for) Moms). There's a huge learning curve with all of the acronyms! We're trying to be as organized as possible. I'm curious if you know how much "stuff" we'll be able to give to her as she leaves for A school? I know we can't give her anything at graduation but I've read some posts about being able to see her at the airport before she leaves for A school (I realize that we won't know when or where so this may be a mute point) and being able to give her cell phone to her. Just trying to figure out the packing stages. I know it's way early, but we have a crazy year a head of us.

Don't have any advise on where to stay, but will be checking replys so that when it's our time i know! lol. We're in Tempe as well. Not sure how much to trust recruiter's, but am trying to recognize how responsible my daughter is and how much research she's done heading into this. I just pray that the job she wants is available. And can't wait to finally know when she will leave (don't know whether to cry now, or save it up!). Have you talked much with your daughter since she left?
