Hi Everyone!  I am new to this whole NROTC program.  My son is a senior in high school and completed his application for the NROTC scholarship
at the end of October.  He has taken the ACT 3 times and has improved
his scores each time.  He is above the needed score for all levels.  He
has been in contact with his Navy recruiter
and has been told by the officer that interviewed him that "he is one
of the best all-around packages he has seen in 10 years."  With that
being said, we still haven't heard anything about the scholarship.  His
status is still "No decision has been made".  Should I be worried or is
this still early to start thinking he isn't going to get the
scholarship?  If he doesn't get it, he plans to do the College option
and still go through the program.  His first choice is Miami University
(Ohio).  He has applied to 5 schools and received notice from 3 stating
that he has been accepted.  We are waiting on the other 2 but should
know by early February.  This waiting game is excruciating!  I want him
to be realistic that he has been up at several boards already and still
hasn't heard anything.  BUT, I do not want to discourage him because he
has worked so hard for this!  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have spent many days looking over this awesome site!  Thanks in
advance for any input

Thanks for the input! It really does help to hear from everyone who has been through this or better yet, works with the program. My son called the recruiter he has been working with and asked him why his newest ACT scores aren't shown online. He told him that Pensacola has the latest scores. He improved 3 points in Math and 5 in English! Is there another way to check if they really do have the latest scores? It could make a difference. Thanks!
Wow! That's quite an improvement! Well, unfortunately, his recruiter's the final point in the puzzle - short of calling Pensacola directly. But, keep an eye on his online account and if it doesn't show up in a couple of days, I think it's worth bringing up with his recruiter again.
we have been experiencing the same thing! i'm glad i found this group, cuz this waiting game is driving me crazy. my son's interview went very well. he has had his app in since sept. and has been accepted to four of the five colleges he has applied to. i feel like we are figuring this all out without alot of help or support. even trying to understand which majors he should have been looking at and which colleges would be the best choice for him. his recruitor retired and we haven't been able to figure out who to ask questions. still, i'm proud of my son, who seems not to be worried at all and is excited to experience the navy life!
