Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OK ladies...  if we are going to have a newsletter, we need to brainstorm a bit!  As Molly is always reminding us, we all own this project!  So...

I think we would start with a bi monthly or quarterly newsletter...  we can have a sign up and I will send it out email.  Maybe we could also post on the website??

now for a name...

Molly's Mainstay
Molly's Muster
Molly's Missives
Molly's Minutes

With features of...
Molly's Microphone--maybe a column from one of the board members?
Molly's Milestones-- list of adoptions/ donations to date or special events
Molly's Moms of the month-- feature about a Molly mom or group of moms
Molly's Mumbles-- favorite quotes
Molly's Mailbag--  notes from our adoptee's

What else???  Have I gone overboard with the letter "M"???

Molly--I am sending you a link on pm from our chamber. They do pix, links to new people/businesses, short write ups, etc. Of course, their's is the size of a small magazine, but we could adopt (did I say adopt) some of their ideas.
You did say *adopt* LOL LOL Ok send it --- I will pass to Susan as she is going to be the *newsletter Momma*
Oh my gosh... so many great creative ideas!!! Keep them coming!!!
I really, really love The Ship's Bell for the name of the newsletter. The sound of a bell always gets peoples attention. I think it's great!! That's my pick so far. Along with the navy terms that Karen C mentioned for the different sections.

If we are going to include a recipe in each newsletter, maybe it could be a recipe from "The Sailors Galley" cookbook and mention that it came from there since they have supported us. And then, maybe our followers will buy a cookbook. That would be good for us and them. Like hitting a double.....score!!!
I like "The Ship's Bell" a lot too!!

That is a Great idea, Julie, about using "The Sailor's Galley".....like you said, "a win, win for both of us!"
JULIE ---------- LOVE THE SAILORS GALLEY IDEA ------ This would be a great way to say thank you for all they have done for us !!! YEAH YEAH its a must LOVE THAT LOVE THAT
I have never ever found a way to say thank you to them enough ---this is a great idea !!!

Must run it past Linda and see if she is ok with that also ?? Anyone want to do that ?? I can if no one wants to ---just trying to give all a chance to own this :)

And yes I like the ships bell also
I like that name for the newsletter, it just sounds good, and I also think it keeps with the "ship" theme that we have with our logo.
Hey if we were cute we could right the word SHIP the same way it is in the logo even with a heart around it ????? dont know if that would look good or not -----
We should try to work on that to see if it fits.....because really, we do SHIP Molly Mom ♥love♥ to our military kids. ♥
I'm updating the Newsletter Discussion to include the July, August and September 2010 Newsletters.

Thank you Dana for the reference to this discussion and particularly that the last 3 newsletters are here. I've printed them out and plan to use them when looking for some donations, particularly $$, but I'll take anything. I never knew that this was here. I definitely need to do some more poking around. Thanks again,
You are so very welcome!
