Hi everyone! My husband is still in BC. Pardon me if i had a lot of questions since I am so new to this. (ship12/div224 PIR 07/08/2011)

1. I just  received an application form DEER and TDP, how soon does this apply from the time you submitted the forms?

2. How and where can I avail a military ID? (I'm form San Francisco)

3. Do they get paid while in training or after they graduate BC? Do this go directly to their bank account?

4. BAH how soon does this apply? I was told you don't get BAH or pay check only until SR graduates from BC.

Please help, I'm really confused..

Wish I could help.... I have alot of the same questions.  I did get my id though.  I went to the closest base (it was an army base) and they did my id card for me.  I found their website and just started calling till I got transferred to the right office.  Everyone I talked to was SUPER nice, I felt dumb, but no one made me feel that way at all.  I still need to figure out what tricare is all about and what exactly our benefits are.  I was told my husband would get paid in bootcamp, and he took a deposit slip with him.  We haven't gotten anything yet, he left 5/4.. but I wasn't really expecting anything yet.  Not sure about bah.  I mean, I was told we would get it in bootcamp, but it might not start coming in till he was almost done, although they are suppose to back pay from the day he started.  So, I'll be checking back to see what other people say, for now I would say contact your local base, closest one to you, about getting your id.  Good luck, and thanks for posting!
I think it is best to post this here since a lot of this women may have experience the same thing. Do you mind to share what website or phone number you call? Thanks for responding.
They do get paid in boot camp, but it takes a while to get processed, a couple weeks. The first check is small as they pay for necessities from the NEX (socks, t shirts, underwear, toiletries). Not uniforms as some think. It is sent to the bank account they choose. If he forgot to take a deposit slip, then he might have opened an account with one of the credit unions there. Paydays are the first and the fifteenth, or the working day before if that falls on a weekend.

They do get BAH, but again, it takes a while to be processed.

Most of the bases I knew about in SF are now closed. Call the National Guard and ask them if they can help. (thank you google)

About the ID card, go to the recruiter they should know where you can get an ID card.  IF the Navy one doesn't know ask the other branches of recruiters.
Thank you Anti M and Angie! that's a lot of help!

1) Cant really help, I never applied for DEERS, hubby did all this in bootcamp. I got a single form for my military ID, took it to the closest office which was about an hour away, got my ID and everything was good to go. Didnt have to do anything else for ins or deers, was already set up

2) Talk to your recruiters. They should be able to send you to the closest location. You can use any branches office for id cards. I went to a National Guard building to pick up my ID

3) During. From what Ive been told they normally get paid E1 thru bootcamp then recieve back pay if they are actually a higher rank, but my BIL who is currently their is getting his normal pay. Estimate it to be able a month before you recieve pay. Ex: hubby left March 8th, I got his first check on April 1st. BIL left April 4th his wife got his check May 1st.

4) My SisterNlaw and I have both recieved BAH the entire time hubbys have been gone. U get BAH based on the Zip Code you are in. You also get Seperation Pay, and they get Cost of Living pay while In chicago too.

Thanks so much for your help Britany!

Manda20: i sent you a friend request..

Manda, you are AWESOME!

My husband actually has NOT enrolled me in DEERS even though he has been at RTC since the 12th.  I am not in the system.  They were very surprised because that's usually supposed to be done during P days.  They told me since I have POA, marriage license, birth cert and soc security card that I can act on his behalf to get myself enrolled and all that.  I am going tomorrow to take care of it.

Please explain how adding someone to an account where they are not on is on is not illegal?"

"Nothing illegal.....but I happen to work for them so I can guide you on what steps to take in order for you to get added to the account and have access while he is away".

Manda20: How can I get a form like that? Can I get it online or make a request for the NFCU to fax me a form? The nearest bank to me is all the way to Monterrey, which is 2 hours drive one way. Can you e-mail me a pdf form? I could pm you my email address. Thank you again, you are an answered prayer to me.
I got your email. Thanks much!!
