Hi, I'm new to N4M and have been reading some of the great and informative posts. My son is a GW nuke and I'm wondering whether there are any other mothers of nukes. Also, trying to arrange a visit, although I don't know when they will return again, and I've heard you have to be sponsored by your sailor or someone else. Any advice or info will be greatly appreciated. All the best.

Hi Ladies!!! I am so happy to find this site. My son Eric arrived in Japan March 5, a few days before the earthquake/tsunami and was also unable to finish indoc before leaving. I have not herd a word from him since May. Any advice.

I'm also looking to add more GW nuke moms to my friend list.

Hi Pam, I will send you a friend request and if you send me a private email with your son's name, I wil see if my son knows him. Seems like my nuke is a good communicator so I try to share what I can.

Rosemary great idea!  I did have an "adopted" nuke son who was very good at answering my questions and staying in touch.  However, he has completed his service and is now a civilian!!  This is a good idea.  I'll private friend you both too.  Have a great day ladies.  I am attending a Meet and Greet @ noon today...it is great to meet up with other Navy Moms and Dads, etc.

Do all the sailors get time off at the holidays?

I think so...it depends on leave and who hasn't been "off".  It sounds like they try to make sure that everyone has some time off, but of course not at the same time.

Hi Pam! My son arrived in Japan on March 7th. I have only heard from him 3 times since he got there. He said his email was messed up and he does not receive messages. I think he has not gotten around to getting a military email account. Sometimes I'm depressed and then I start to get angry. I know when they are in port and think maybe today will be the day. I know they are in port now. Nope no call. I see his postings on Facebook. It doesn't help that today is his birthday. Do you follow the GW on facebook? That's let's me know whats going on and where they are. On a brighter note I put up a military red white and blue Christmas tree filled with navy orderments. I usually do 2 trees but this year I had to do 3. Just in time for Veterans Day!

My husband is an ET on the GW :) I love being out here in Yokosuka

Hi Sara, Glad you like Yokosuka! It's a great place in many ways, isn't it? You say your husband is an ET - please excuse my ignorance but what does that stand for? So much of the Navy lingo goes right over my head. I wonder if your husband knows my son.
