It has been 3 days and it's starting to sink in that he's gone. This is so painful,I feel like I can't breathe if I let my mind think about him being so far away from his home. How long does it take for this raw pain to end? Does it get better in days,weeks...?  How long after they pull away on the bus from MEPS does it take to get their address? Another phone call?  ANY help will be greatly appreciated. I pray that all of you dear Moms are okay and that your families are doing well also. Prayer is helping a lot,it's the night time that gets me. I can't imagine the captain covering up my sons feet when he kicks the covers off in the middle of the night,It's cold up there! Lol. I miss him but I am staying strong for him and my other family members. It sure is tough though!  This site has helped me tremendously!!

They come home :-)  I have 2 who serve.......remember the feelings your are going through.  I do not know how to tell you all we have been through.......the times apart......the times together.......all I know is I sent 2 sons off.....they were so young!  And I got 2 amazing sons home!   We have visited them in very exciting places....San Diego...Germany.......and they have suprised us by being home at the same time.   One Thanksgiving......we always do Thanksgiving at my brother-in-law's house..........long story......but a SUV pulled in the driveway........and......my grandbabies, all my sons and daugher in laws.......from Maine, San Diego........everyone was there!   All I could do was say OH my GOD!  Thank YOU!   So sweet of the boys to pull this one off!

I know it is so hard to say goodbye and send them off......I also know the men who have come back.

Good luck........you have an amazing trip in front of you :-)

Good Morning Jane,Thank You for your encouraging words. I have another son that is a year younger than Jimmy. He signed up for the Navy two weeks ago and should be heading to MEPS this coming week.It has to be so hard to have both sons gone all the time. I can't even begin to think how I'll survive that.Ha   I'm happy that you had such a wonderful surprise on Thanksgiving. Your sons love you very much to have pulled that off, good for you! :)    God Bless you and your family! I look forward to getting to know you. Rhonda

Thank you all so much! You have given me hope and a sense of peace. I am excited to get to know all of you. What a blessing this site is!

Thank you for your prayers, JimmysMom. I really appreciate it. I believe my son has Battlestations next week, so I know he would appreciate prayers as well. I didn't mention it in my post below; however, I received a short letter from him yesterday, written on the 19th, and he sounded a little down. He did not do as well on the marksmanship as he would have liked. As one of the other moms has posted, Boot Camp is like a roller coaster ride.

I will pray for you both, that you have peace and that he breezes through battlestations!

My son was to leave the 22nd from Portland Oregon, but due to weather, he left the 23rd.  I understand what you are going through.  I cleaned up his room yesterday, and it was really tough!  Sounds like maybe our boys will be in the same group and hopefully become friends for life.

Thanks!

Jennifer that would be wonderful!!! My husband retired from the Marine Corp, He has friends that he met in bootcamp that he still keeps in contact with today. They are closer than brothers. I love that! As a military spouse I wouldn't take a million dollars for the friends I made while "we" were in the military.Ha, I felt like I served harder duty than my husband at times. ;)   Oh,I know going into your sons room had to hurt you so much,I can't do it. I will go into Jimmys room when I receive his box, that way I will only break down once. ;)  Maybe! Ha.  We will get through this.. You're in my prayers.

Awe, thank you for the kind words..Ya, funny thing is I found his 11 general orders, that he was working on...on 11 different pizza napkins, I had to laugh because he has about 10 note pads in his room

Wow, you must be so very proud!   This site is amazing and I know it will help me understand what they are going though and how i can be supportive.  Please, keep in touch...Let me know when you get a letter, etc.  So where is your son going to A school?  My kiddo will be going to Florida...feel free to write me anytime.  My email address is jenniferzcrazyplace@hotmail.com

My thoughts are will you!  Any I hope to meet you at graduation.
